So there I was entering Orlando(taking my son to the doctor), light turns green and an all-black(w/matching wheels, lowered, loud & late model car pops the throttle(sounded like a giant duck being squashed by a tank...err something)and then floors it, so I did the same, my low-end isn't what some of yours may be because it's an automatic but after about 15-20 MPH it hits hard, pulled up next to him and by the end of 2nd to 3rd gear blew his *** off(I'm sure he'd smoked me top-end because you know our top speed isn't the best)but dang I love my car. The best part is, as I was passing him I gave him my index finger(no not my bird finger)and shook it back and forth slowly as to say "eh eh, you shouldn't under-estimate, he he". In my rear view I noticed the emblem on his hood, 3 or 4 circles linked together, I think that's an Audi, right?
My 9 y/o son said "dad you Tokyo drifted his butt", I said "no I just smoked his ***".

asking if audi's are fast are the same as asking mazda's are fast or bmw's or toyota's. no matter what company it is, they always have decent cars that make some power. with audi's theres alot of s4's out there that are insanely fast, but there are alot out there which are very slow just like every other car, depends on the mods and model, blah blah blah.

 

yea they have like a 400hp sedan, im not really into european/german cars that much. but yeah. all the STOCK 1.8t's and whatnot are pretty slow. ive driven and raced some. but they are nice.

 

Yeah true, I guess the way I asked it it does sound like some moron...well I'm not! lol... what I guess I meant was is there a big rice-burner following in Audi's like in the honda, toyota, ect. Maybe all he had was a lowered suspension, sweet wheels and a loud *** annoying pipe, I dunno, What I do know is that I'm completely stock w/a 12a except for RB exhaust...so I'm just happy I got to shut him down. Not into the street racing anymore or maybe I'd know a little more about it...it gets expensive, which would be ok if I wasn't trying to juggle motocross too.

haha true. audi's are really nice cars but only a few of them are meant to be fast. i got a 3rd gen with a decent amount of power so im never really troubled with audi's just mostly z06's and modded ls1's at the moment but not for long.

 

I really liked Ft. Myers the few times I have been able to go down and see my sister. Congrats on the win. Audi's dont really have the ricer following like hondas/acuras/mistus.. But like the others said some of those audi's are dang fast. I had a nice lil run in with a new RS4 the other day and he was pretty dang fast. Stayed on my butt till 85 when we shut down.

yup. put down a lil over 300 at the moment. He is at a bit of a disadvantage being that I am at 7000ft altitude and the RS4 is N/A.

 

keep in mind audis with awd are very heavy, which is why they make so much power, they need to compensate. one more reason to love the rx. light means we can make less power and still go faster.

Not to rehash the entire diatribe from 'S4' thread, but most modern Audis are decently fast, and some are insanely fast. It kind of sounds like the one you "raced" was more for show than go. These cars start out with 1.8 Turbo 4s putting down around 200 hp, and go all the way to 450 hp V8s and V10s.
While the Quattro versions ARE heavier across the model lines, by and large you are talking cars that run mid-12s to mid-13s in the 1/4, with 4.2 - 6.0 second 0 - 60 times.

Yeah, that's fast.

Yes I killed a late model Audi, definately a beautiful car, black w/matching wheels( 8-10 spoke), looked lowered w/a very loud exhaust. Maybe he was just show opposed to go, I'll never know but I smoked him either way, and what's good about it is that he was the initiator.
I know this is no big compared to some of you guys' stories but since you cast doubt here goes= I was weaving traffic, late for my sons doctors appointment, just as I got through all the people that like to drive side-by-side in both lanes at very slow speeds,lol, I had free road ahead but the light turned red and I was like "doough!" Thinking now all those people I passed are going to be sitting behind me thinking "look at that idiot in that sweet little sports car that was doing all that weaving and has made no progress because here he sits right in front of me" Well as the traffic is pulling up behind me and beside me as I wait for a green light, I notice a black car in my mirror(that's all I knew that it was at the time)slowing but still rolling up next to me and popped his gas so I could hear his pipe, as I was looking over to the left I seen the light turn green in my peripheral vision and instantly heard his pipe roar and I instinctively punched it, he had about a car length(keep in mind too he never came to an absolute stop either), then he had about 1 1/2 car lengths on me, by this time I was getting in my powerband w/this auto(which from a dead stop doesn't really pull you back until engine builds some torque, about 20+mph), I could see him clutch and hit second(or third?) and right then I gained a 1/2 car length, I seen/heard him shift again and I was right next to him, by then I was about to hit third and when it shifted to third I was a 1/2 to a full car ahead, surprised and instantly feeling arrogant I waved my finger at him(like this ), by this time I looked down and I was running about 85 at about 5,000rpm and climbing in a 35 mph zone, I looked in the rear-view seen the hood emblem and let off and braked for the traffic ahead, I watched him as he came back up on the right lane this time(because I took his lane), w/his tinted windows up and casually cruised passed as if nothing had happened. For the next 2-3 miles he was behind then ahead of me several times as we were in retard traffic but the rest of this time he behaved himself
My son was stoked, I was thinking about what influence I was being on him, he'll be driving in 6 years
So that's the story bro, I always hated how my car came off the line(have been considering swapping to a manual) and hate the top speed being 110 but between maybe 25 and 85mph my car is a demon(considering I have no turbo or port work). I've had this car for 18 years, it has 72,000mi and I've always been impressed how the car shoots you ahead everytime it shifts, I've never felt any other auto tranny that I've owned(GM, Mopar, Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan)do this and I don't know if all RX7's shift this way but it IS the reason I don't already have a manual conversion...starts suck though!

Thanks guys I know the original question was stupid, forgive me. Just didn't know what Audi had out there, thanks for the input. My car isn't a racer anyway.

i love supermanriceburnerdriftercar's lol. i'm only making a little over 300hp, i've killed many audi's like i said most problems i have are with v8's. but i dont really race much. i drift and i'm right in the horsepower range i want to be. i got all bolt ons exhaust, a computer, intercooler etc. fuel system is on the way. in the next month i'll be at 350 but thats all i want. the car just got gutted. i'll admit it felt horrible tearing a part a good condition fd.. it really did, but it looked so hot gutted. now theres a roll cage going in it next month. and you'll be seeing this car in the drift411 drifting series around florida near the end of the year. i'll be competing for finals in NV and obtaining my formula d liscense! haha yea i doubt i'll win but god it will be fun.
