lb/hp isnt the only factor in making a fast car.

it definately is the most important though by far. Especially for street racing/hwy pulls.

For comparison sake;
C6 ZO6: 440 whp --> 11.8 @125
Viper SRT10: 450 whp --> 12.1 @120
Bugatti Veyron: 1000 bhp --> 10.8 @ 140
Saleen S7 TT: 750 bhp --> 10.9 @140
Mosler MT900S: 600 bhp --> 11.0 @135

All of the above cars have lb/hp way better than the Fbody that everyones talking about so it just doesn't make any sense to me!?
they dont. thats why you arnt getting it.

hmm, so your saying these supposed low 10 second "stock" ls1s are bull ****? i do. i still think that example lupe showed us of the 10.2 second "cam only" car is way more than "bone stock." they are getting a litttle too caught up in calling things bone stock. i will never consider that car bone stock as he said.

step outside that little 3 wall box of yours and realize there is more to running a 10 second pass than the weight of the car and its hp.
So why arent you in the 10's yet with a "Cam only" setup ? Last time i checked a camshaft only cost a couple hundred bucks.

Quit acting like the LS1 was touched by god. Its just a small block chevy. It takes work to get them into the 10's just like every other car. Fbody owners act like they break into the 10's just by pulling their passanger seat out. Its just not the case. If it was you would be in the 10's yourself with your bottle turned off.

no it is not bone stock. it is stock internals, no power adder. which equals around 380-440hp. and over 3000 pounds. i never said bone stock they run low 10's. you guys did. you guys should stick to building high 12 second cars....

and personal attack? because i said to step outside a 3 wall box??? come on man... grow up. you guys are argueing it can't be done. WHEN IT HAS. look on ls1tech there is a list of guys running 10's with ******* bolt ons no cam, stock internals no power adder.... now granted those have weight reduction. but at least half the cam only cars are over 3000 pounds and run low to high 10's.....

take one of those high 10 cam only cars that weigh 3400, throw a 150 shot on it and bam, 540ish hp and a easy low 10 car. can't be done? too bad plenty have already done it. you guys arguing about how it is impossible are just looking more and more stupid.... because i am not saying it COULD be done i am saying it HAS been done. so

and matty, you say i should grow up? you should spend less time in the kill story section attacking me for looking for races (which i thought this section was for that?) and worry more about why you are racing people on the highway with a kid... i mean you said earlier you have a wife and son and then talk about how you occasionally do highway pulls?? i mean damn dude. i am 21 and have nothing to loose right now. but you do. so please just stop bashing me for looking for races in the section made for that.

Given that your car is an auto: Please elaborate what else is there other than weight & HP (which is crucial in order to get that momentum off the line), well other than tires of course.

I'm not bashing I am seriously asking here.

Do you even have a NHRA sanctioned cage in your car which allows you to run those kind of times at the track??

nope, not all tracks are strict. back when i ran 11.7 i was breaking the cage barrior in the 1/8 at 3 different tracks and NEVER had anything said to me. i also don't have a fire jacket (required for all power adder cars not factory), 5 point or engine blanket (which i believe is required but i can't remember).

i am about to put one in though i am going to hate it though because it is daily driven.

I already said tires and yes you are currect suspension. But you have to admit that the biggest players are HP to weight ratio, and tires.

as far as torque goes: Tow trucks have a huge torque curve... You have to have the HP in order to accelerate quickly. I'm not saying torque does not play a role I'm just saying that HP is by far more important.

ever come down to San Diego? I'd love to give it a go. Of course none of this 1/4 mile bullshit where you can spray for a very little bit amount of time and call yourself fast.

yes lb/hp are a big factor AS WELL as torque, gearing, suspension, tires etc.

and you are actually saying that hp gets you off the line NOT torque? why do you think diesel F250's run high 13's and weigh over 7k pounds and only make about 400-500hp and over 900 TQ??

and no, i don't go to cali. not a fan and it's just way out of where i travel. IF i am ever there (doubt it) i will let you know. most of my traveling is on the east coast and out towards texas.

Horsepower is defined as work done over time. Torque is essentially the work (centripetal terms). Work is amount of force over a distance.

So I think we have come to the conclusion that LS1's are slow.
