My car went a best of 12.11@ 116 about 2 years ago on Nitto DR's. Why do you need et drags/streets for your car, why don't you just learn to drive better? My car has gone a best of a 1.761 60' with no suspension mods and Nitto DR's with 32psi in them. That 12.1 pass was only on a 1.896 60' (and only 364rwhp/430rwtq) and the car's got some suspension done to it since then and a butt-load more power. Oh and I don't consider my car fast by anymeans, but is it quick... yes it is. You need to tone your cockyness down a couple notches before you call out all "cocky" v-8 owners.

Nope. We were discussing torque and HP. I said HP was more important than torque. Then he brought out the off the line statement, which I never said anything about static to kinetic. So I replied on how TQ and HP relate to each other. That's all.

Well idk

Cause if you're talking about off the line, thats torque.

When you're accelerating and you're like, wow this thing "pulls", thats torque.

Which is why trucks have alot of torque and low HP cause its "pulling power".

Anyone who thinks that torque is more important the HP better tell that to Ferrari's F1 teams. Their cars make 800-900whp and and 200-300rwtq. Gee, if they only knew LOL!

No one said that.

And F1 cars are in their powerband constantly. I wouldnt care if i was making 90lbs of torque and had 1000hp, if i was in peak power all the time, that shouldnt matter

So what you are saying is if you stay in your power band torque doesn't matter at all. Right? Good.

What im saying is, "When you're ready, you wont have to".

lol sorry, i watched matrix a few days ago.

Im just saying in terms of off the line or like when people say this car pulls, its torque that they're feeling. I dont know the technical terms but i would assume if you're in peak it shouldnt matter. But i would like to have a car that has same or close hp/trq in peak, like 400/400 or 450/380 etc.

We are going off at a tangent here. You "feel" torque more than HP. Hence why NA GT mustang owners thing that they are fast. Because it feels fast. Torque gives a false impression of how fast one is accelerating.

personal example here: My friend has a stock 99 C5 350 flywheel HP. I've driven his car and it "feels awsome" floor it and kicks you in the pants. Next I jump on mine and my car does not have the "kick" at least no where near as much as he does. Yet I leave him in the dust... His "feels" faster but it is not.

how about by definition: Torque is work. HP is the amount of work done over time.

Let's simplify this: Two identical cars, same torque but different HP numbers. The car with with the higher HP does the same amount work BUT in LESS TIME than the other; which means that it is faster (accelerates quicker than the other). Now apply that to the real world where weight is a huge factor and balances how much work is needed to move an object. What is left is HP. Torque IS important but HP is king.
