heres what i had done recently in my 240 vert. im not sure i like it. the builder didnt really listen, and i feel the cage is too close to me. i cant fit my recaro in it because the cage is too far forward (he wanted me to run back seats even though im not going to).

the rear bars.

heres the rest

and another a little better quality notice the non existent headroom. thats a sparco speed sitting on the floor, no rails or mounts period. i have a recaro spg i want to put in it that is about 4-5 inches taller, it wont fit under the cage.

sorry for the poor quality pics, the cage was done right before i left the country. i kind of feel like its lacking especially with the fitment. its hard to see where the a pillar bars are but they dont seem close enough to the chassis, i am going to use this car on the street as well as the track and visibility is a major priority.

its still missing the door bars, i am going nascar style for ease of entry and exit. but before that happens i need to talk to the fabricator and see if he will help me out since he didnt listen to what i told him.

what do you guys think? need more bars in the rear? im open for criticism, especially when it comes to safety. but im pretty sure this ones going to be coming out of the car.

That X bar is badly placed, it's not really bracing anything in particular. It SHOULD be braced to the main hoop, not the harness bar.

Hey guys i am after some help i own a fc (right hand drive) and i am having some trouble fitting the rear bars to it.
I dont have a sun roof, i got the roof bars in and pushed it as foward as it would go and then bolted it in, then i went to bolt the rear ones on and the left hand side wont go on(unsure where it goes to ) and the right hand side is the same
If anyone could help with pics or even tell me what i am doing wrong would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks

mine is a bolt in cage, here is my problem i couldn't go any further forward than i did as it was up against the headlight switch.
this is where mine wont fit

Don't torque up anything until you get all the pads placed correctly... un-do the fronts and make sure you can get the rear pads set correctly. Loosely install the fasteners if you must to hold the cage.

That cage looks like exhaust tubing.... ;-)

Hay guys, Im after some detail photos on a 6 point cage for a right hand drive FD. Really after some of the front legs and the front footings to see where they have been placed on the drivers side.

Some of the side intruiton bars and how they fit in with the door trims would be good also.

Im about to get a 6 point with racetech seats and harnesses for my FD.

Kiwi cage with Racetech seat

Hey there

Hope these help ... we needed to modify the tunnel a little to get the head restraint seat into the centre of the car more.

I am about to go into the garage to make some new door skins now as the original ones won't fit with the side intrusion bars in there.

Let me know if there are any other specific pics you need - or maybe come and take a look if you're near Wellington.

Cheers
Shaun

Quick question regarding your harness mounts - It looks like you welded in some bungs for eye bolts and you'll clip in your harnesses there. I was always under the impression that it was better to have these bolts in shear (vertical), rather than in tension (horizontal)?

What are the current thoughts on that?

I'm told stronger in tension - also the placement creates the right angles for using a HANS device when I want to add one.
