This isn't so much about the cage in the 05 Mustang but of the rear bulkhead. I had to make sure it was sealed well because of the fuel cell I installed in the trunk. must keep fumes and fuel out of the driver's area.

Had to remover the child restraining brackets on both side to allow for a flat cover. All panels are Aluminum and are stepped and bead-rolled for strength and tight fit.

Inside panel are many, 6 total to get around all of the tubes bracing main hoop. We were able to keep the gaps to a minimum, around a 1/16" and was filled using a paintable sealer.

had to keep all of the joint lines centered and plumb. I am very happy with the outcome. This bulkhead took about 7 hours to form and fit.

Made circles to fill the factory openings for the factory sending unit and pump on the floor under rear seat.

This panel was a complex panel covering the factory openings for the seat belt and retract unit.

I should have this car finished tomorrow or Tuesday.

No, had it about 10 years now. The steering wheel is off the dirt car I drove. Someday I will motorize it to make it easier. Do not do much sheet metal anymore since our speedway closed.

So do you have a helper turn for you? I have the same tool and getting the lines straight and turning the crank at the same time is tough...

A steering wheel!!! Great idea! Mine has a crank on it which is nearly impossible to use alone and get a straight line.

DOOR BARS! These are them!!

Yeah, the wheel on the bead roller good idea, not mine though. Stole it from somebody else.

Finished the American Sedan today! Yeah!! Did the door bars last. NASCAR style, here you go.

Trimming the door for the upright to clear with door shell closed

It's nice to have help around. For about a month I had a kid helping me out ... basically keeping the shop nice and tidy, sweeping/putting away the tools every night etc, and had a guy that I was sponsoring help me on his car, stripping out the interior, prepping the pads and tubes for welding etc... that was a great month. With all that help, I finished up the guys cage in about a week. It was nice not having to look around for 20 minutes for that 10mm socket, or the digital level, or have to sweep up before getting under the car.

But now I'm back to just me, myself & I... and the shop's a mess

Yeah, I agree. Was nice having somebody motivated around to keep me going on those long days. We got alot done but I noticed it wasn't because he was doing the work but keeping me in line. Shop was a little cleaner also, after I found everything he misplaced. LOL!

Back to my self again also!

The cage is done!!!!!!!!!
I'm very pleased with how the cage came out. There is still alot of work ahead, but I feel like we (my brother and I) made major progress with finishing the cage. Next up fender flares and body work. I'm hoping to class in NASA PTA when I'm done and EP as a crossover class.

PDVipers FD.

Going to be a 6 point with removeable doorbars. Both SCCA & NHRA specs once the hoop diagonal goes in.
Bins will still be functional & full interior will be going back in.

Here is a FD that did a while back but thought you guys might be interested. Driver is 6'7" so some compromises were made to accommodate.

I have to say Scott that the fire bottle mounting worries me. We lost a driver out here a few years back after he hit a barrier and his bottle broke loose and hit him in the head. Yes he was wearing a helmet. I like the passenger footwell much more. BTW in my opinion cages in street cars is generally a bad idea. I've turned away a few jobs like this. Be very careful and I would suggest having the owner sign a release before you turn it back over to him.

I will defend Scott on this one. We all know that cages are bad for the street, it has been hammered on by thousands on every forum. This one should be ok since it is just a 6 pt Roll bar. Seat is protecting the driver's head in a crash and there is no front A-pillars bars to deal with and the fire bottle is a missile of course. Placement is not ideal but in a small leg room car it is about the only place besides the in front of the driver's or passenger seat.

Either way, it is cool!

Here is a door panel for the Evo project. Took it out yesterday with the owner to Portland International to work out the fab and suspension upgrade bugs. Well worth it, found a few minor problems and dialed it in. Looking forward to the next race weekend to see how it works!

Everybody, pm the moderator and lets see if we can get this thread sticky'ed!

I figured I with emboss the shop Logo into the two rear doors in case he pulls the stickers off the qtr panels!
