Smile Queensland, Australia - addition to previous post.

Lakeside International Raceway is a classic old school undulating road course. It is located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Originally a grass & dirt track many years ago it developed into a F1 calendar event for a few years and later was a regular event for Australian touring car & V8 supercars championships. The track was closed in the 1990's due to safety concerns and housing developents moved close by. Re-Opened in 2005/2006 following long negotiations with neighbors & local council. The track is short 2.4km but very fast flowing & difficult to achieve a perfect lap. A sub 60 second lap is considered fast. Some V8 supercar teams have quoted that if you can set up a car to run fast at Lakeside, it will be fast at the famous Mount Panarama in Bathurst.

Another fantastic club that hosts autocrosses, ice races, and open track days is the Fox Valley Sports Car Club based in the Appleton, WI. area. The site is here; Fox Valley Sports Car Club of Wisconsin A great club that's very friendly and laid-back.

Since 2000 I've been ice racing and rallycrossing with this club; Wisconsin Autosports Group It's the Wisconsin Autosports Group and they put on great ice and rally events.

Hope this helps.

Tampered Motorsport for people in Victoria, Australia. Have a track day almost every month. Only downside is that they don't cap the number of entrants and they're not that great at officiating either.

MN Track Time in Central MN

For those within driving (or towing) distance of Brainerd, MN (2 hours north of Minneapolis), the Brainerd International Raceway Performance Driving School (birperformance.com) offers open track time (6 25 minutes sessions) for $310. We have 12 dates this season, starting on 05 May 2014. Come drive down the 5000 ft straight Paul Newman enjoyed, flowing into a banked turn 1. We run both the fabled "Donnybrooke" 3.1 mile/10-turn track and the 2.5 mile/13-turn "Competition" course. Its some of the cheapest track time around.

CT New England Region SCCA Open Enduro

New England Region and SCCA announce a new bracket endurance race weekend at Thompson Speedway in Thompson CT on June 6th and 7th. Together the region and the national office will use this event to pilot some revolutionary ideas to make this a fun event with low barriers to entry that make it a great opportunity for SCCA club racers and competitors from other endurance series.
The event will run under the Club Racing Experience rule set. This means that a club racing license is not required. Anyone who is a regular or weekend member and who self-certifies that they have no health problems can enter. There are no illegal cars. Any race car that meets SCCA GCR basic safety rules and does not exceed the performance potential of SCCA Club Racing classes Improved Touring R, Touring 3, GT3 or E Production may enter. This is no contact racing or what is commonly called 13/13 racing as used in vintage racing and some endurance series. Competitors who have car to car contact will be counseled.
The tentative schedule starts Saturday at 9:00 am with a practice/ test and tune session for an hour and a half or so then after an hour break 5 ½ hours of endurance racing. Sunday morning is quiet time at Thompson so the action restarts at noon for the final 5 ½ hours. The entry fee is targeted at $1000 per car for the 11 hour race plus 1 ½ hours of practice with no additional fee for additional drivers. You can enter with 2 drivers or 11.
Did I say there are no illegal cars? Awards will be for 4 classes. There will be an unlimited class as well as 3 time bracket classes. A target time will be specified for each of the bracket classes and winning will require the best strategy for hitting your target time every lap without going under. The bracket progress will all be controlled by an innovative new timing system being developed by SCCA that will allow competitors track their times for under over on a smart phone and make the adjustments necessary to win without dealing with the officials.
This weekend is intended to be a fun economical event for SCCA club racers and endurance racing fans from other series. Plan to join us for this exciting new concept weekend.
