Apologies if this has been covered before, just can't find any info pertaining to the NC specifically.

I've been searching for a close ratio gearset for my race car for a while now. I know the NA/NB gearset conversion is very well regarded, however, I came across a relatively cheap close ratio set that replaced the 1st-3rd gears in the N7/N7S 5 speed in the NC Miata. Has anyone got any experience with swapping the gearset from an NC 5 speed into the FB 5 speed?

I've looked at some engineering drawings for both gearboxes and they look 99% identical, the centre section also looks identical between the NA/NB and the NC box (both have the machined corner on the side). I've emailed the company, but I doubt they'll have the specific knowledge pertaining to our cars.

 

yeah if you look up part numbers the NC 5 speed is the same internally as the NB 5 speed. different cases though
