Looks like the curb upset the car, he over corrected and the rest was gardening

Hard to tell, almost looks like some oversteer started when he first turned in under braking. The curbing sure didn't help his situation for sure. Then off to the litter box!

No, the slide had already started when the curbs came! Also, the Glen got rid of the curbs more or less for the IRL cars. You can drive right over them now without upsetting the car.

That's me driving by the way!

Brake in, Accel out.

No damage...except my standing in the race! I did have to let the air out of the passenger side tires and pry all the gravel out from between the tire and rim!

Now you tell us! Vids make it hard to tell but you certainly look like you scoot along pretty quickly!

Uh-oh...what makes you say that? Some of the noise you hear in the video is the wind...it doesn't sound bad in person. But then again, I have never had a rotary go south on me so I really don't know what it would sound like!

It sounds great when it is running! I think he means that when you restarted it, it sounds like it is getting low on compression. That spinning that it took to build up enough compression to fire gets worse and worse until it won't pump up enough to fire without a bit of atf down the old carb. This is the same fun trick that makes your neighbors call the fire department becasue they are sure your garage is on fire. Ahhhh, the joys of rotaries!

All in a day's racing huh? I put myself into the gravel trap in the festival curves at Portland once. I was going for 1st gear and got hung up between 1st and reverse ('66 Dodge with Hurst shifter). When I finally got 1st gear I was turning left and I let out the clutch and gave it too much throttle. The back end came out and my front tires ended up in the gravel. With the back tires on the grass I was stuck.

That was awesome. It starts just like mine! LOL... I've known for quite some time that mine was going, it drinks more water than I do. Some more vids would be awesome!

lol...I laughed when I noticed that too! I do agree with you about having great tracks nearby. My two closest are Watkins Glen and Lime Rock!

I did basically the same thing when I was there in July.

It's funny...everyone knows that once you're that deep in the gravel and have stopped there's basically no hope of getting out again on your own....but everyone spins the tires in a dejected attempt to drive out of it anyway.
