Car died at VIR on monday. Time to start the LSx project
OOOH OOOH I DO! I DO!
when is it? I could honestly probably fly out depending on date.
Ramon
so the engine is out. Going to start parting out once i get it torn down, parts cleaned up and pictures taken of everything. Subframe is coming this week and new bushings.
Guess I should start an actual build thread..

Looking good! If you decide you want to use the Samberg Radiator/CAI, let me know as I have a brand new one... no wait. Only reason I'm selling is because I ordered it in February and they weren't made and shipped until May, at which point I had already made an intake and had my hinson radiator installed because I had track events I needed to attend.

$1200 seemed just a bit dear when I could make my existing stuff work.
Congrats... wrenching is so much better when you have friends around to help. +1 on using this as your build thread. It already documents a heck of a lot of the "why" part of your decision.
Good luck! (and don't forget the accusump!)

^ Yeah i will certainly be getting an accusump. Still doing the research on what pressure setting will work best for me.
I just located and bought a transmission setup, rebuilt T56 with LS7 Clutch and Fidanza flywheel. Hope to have it late next week.

So i've taken off the entire front suspension in order to remove the sub-frame and also to change out my tired OEM bushings with new Delrin bits.
I accidentally the whole suspension

I think this will need to be rebuilt again

Marked the shocks because I'm a moron and I know i'll mix them up when it is time to put them back on

in other news, my t56 will arrive tuesday

i'm crossing my fingers and hoping i can have it done by one of my November events. I have a lot of work travel coming up and I still need to drop another $2500-$3K in parts.
Not much of an update, but i got the LS6 on a stand finally.

Anyone know if there is a way to compression test this thing without taking it to a shop with an engine dyno to hook it up to?

u can rent a compression tester from vatozone. screws in the spark plug hole.
have you gotten a improved racing oil pan baffle? id really suggest it to help with oiling in addition to an accusump.

I have a compression tester, I just didn't think it would be very accurate trying to test it without the engine actually running. Guess I could just pop the plugs out and turn the crank?
I'm planning on doing something with the oil pan baffle - one of the man reasons i wanted it on a stand so i could work on it prior to putting it in the car, but thanks for the tip

No, you will not be able to crank the motor fast enough by hand to generate usable compression numbers.
