Have you tried to fit those Evo 2+ seats yet? From what I've read you have to either trim the wing or not run a door panel. I was looking at one for sale the other day but passed it by because I wasn't sure of fitment.

Not yet, but I was kind of worried about the fitment. The door panels are out of the car already, so maybe it won't be that big of a deal. I still need to get some kind rails to mount them with too.

Hi Joe,
Nice to see the moster breathing and can't wait to see you at the track with it

I need rails too.

As mentioned the Evo II (EVO is 1/8" too big or rubs the panel) won't fit but w/o the door panel you should be fine.

Hey Fritz - yeah i fit the passenger seat in the car yesterday and the door panels will definitely need to go for the fit.

Stupid question, but can I just buy some universal Sparco rails to mount these with? My current seat I had Piper fab up a mount for but I don't have the time to haul the car up there for that. I may still leave that seat in the driver side but then I'm the only perrson that can drive the car - if that's a bad thing hehe.

You could use the sparco side mounts but you'll need to find rails for the FD specifically most rails are custom for the car. Also they'd probably be the slider variety and the seat would be too high. I'd take the time to go to piper so it's done right and it's SAFE.

Yeah good point - I'll probably keep my setup as is to get back on track when the car gets back from exhaust, then haul it back to piper later for some proper mounts for the passenger seat.

Dropped it off today for the exhaust, guy said he's hoping to get it done by tuesday or wednesday - depending on how fast he gets the parts in. Not being used to V8 torque, this thing continues to amaze me. Again I loaded it on the trailer in 3rd gear, no gas, just let the clutch out. Dropped off trailer, used 3rd again to drive the 150 feet or so from parking lot into the shop - thing pulls like the rotary did in 1st

Car is back from the shop, new exhaust sounds pretty good I think. Now i need to work out the high idle or TPS or whatever the issue is. When I blip the gas it doesn't settle back down

We've had that issue due to bad vacuum leaks, bad wiring, and bad PCM's. Check in that order Exhaust sounds great!

what wiring from the harness in particular could cause this? It's a cable throttle body so I'm kind of baffled as to why it won't settle down when you let off the pedal.

been troubleshooting this thing a lot lately, having issues getting it to charge the battery - got it narrowed down to the alternator not getting signal from the pcm to charge the battery. Think i have that lined up now, so I just need to roll the front fenders some to clear the 275 nt01s, and I think i'm good to go.

Had it out at Summit Point a few weeks ago, but never got on track because of the fenders rubbing and car not charging the battery. Planning on getting her out to VIR with ACNA on 11/10-11/11.

haha, well I do want to take it back to have the alignment redone. I had them dial in as much castor as possible, and they got 7.2 dialed in - the new subframe allows for way more adjustment thatn the stock frame. Well that has the larger wheels rubbing the clip where the front chin bumper mounts to the fender. I think I'm going to have them dial it back some because I'm worried that in a high speed loaded turn it's going to rub really bad. When i get it up to the dulles area to have it aligned I'll let you know.

Speaking of alignment, there's a garage club in Sterling that I've joined because they have lifts, a modern alignment rig, tire mounting/balancing, paint booth, indoor car wash area, etc. If you're going to be fiddling with alignment settings frequently and want to do it yourself check it out.

Hi Joe,
Is the max caster a v8 thing?

I like 5.5 and I'd never go over 6 for on any FD that's seeing track time.

Loved the test drive vid and can't wait to see you at the track this year

I've never had more than 5.5 before - I was talking to Gammon and he told me to try and dial in as much as possible, I had no idea that PBC would be able to get 7.2 out of the new subframe. I really don't have a frame of reference as to what it will feel like with this much.

Good to see you back on track, even with the funny sounding engine. How does the balance of the car feel (I can't remember your suspension setup)?

Looking and sounding good Joe

It apears that RPM gauge just needed to get a little heat into it to dry out those wires hehe

Try to make it to the modified mag thing Mon the 20th.

the balance feels really good, but really it's like a whole new car since we put in solid bushings, fatter track tires (275 up from the old 245) bigger brakes (curtesousy of Fritz) and obviously the power. It rotates really well but I have a lot of lean. I think it may be time to move up to some aftermarket sway bars and the ground control coil-over kit for my konis.

yeah i have been fighting with the tach since I got the car running, I think there is a hiding ground somewhere in the dash that became "heat activated" on track because I can't make it work otherwise.

This vid was from a session spent playing with a bunch of friends (mustang, firebird, 911, and m3) so i spent a lot of time lifting and not passing to just keep around and get them on video. I also was trying not to push the car too hard on its first outing at the track.

All in all, i'm very happy, had no major issues with the car, i got somewhere around an hour and a half of total time on track, and I drove the car on the trailer at the end of the day.

It is in dire need of a dyno tune, so that is next up on the list of things to do.

Good stuff Joe, I think I saw some 17s in there

Yes you need a tri point front bar and some 600 plus springs but those konis need to go hehe.

I'd go straight to the exact setup I have. The Tein Super Racing or spend the big money and go Penske

I make a one piece seat mount that fits the Evo 2 with a small a mount of mods to the seat if you have all your interior intact, or no mods if interior is gutted (especially door panels).

Edit: Nevermind, I see you already have something setup.
