Anyone interested in getting a group together for a track weekend? VIR? Road Atlanta?
It'd be great to get a group of RX-7/Rotorheads together for a track event this year. I think VIR would be a pretty good option for us East Coast guys as it is kind of more centered than somewhere like Road Atlanta or NJMP. It's also a really REALLY great road course and most places have plenty of runoff in case you do make a mistake, damage is minimal. I don't think a NASA event would be a good option for us due to being side tracked with some people racing as well as being completely packed. I know several other organizations have events there, but I'll throw one out... Mazda Driver's in June or August. June is the Grand East course, August is Full Course. No racing, good turnout but not a packed paddock, alot of Mazda's in general, and plenty of time to hang out... Let's hear some thoughts or suggestions?

I had a good time at the Mazdadriver's VIR event last year. It'd be cool if we could get a big group of FDs together for it this year. June 12-13 is the Grand East and August 28-29 is Full.
rotorheads huh? Does that mean I don't have to get whipped by your LS1 machine?
Any chance you'd consider Mid-Ohio? Growth in family size is limiting my fun budget this year.

June sounds fun. August is out for me (anniversary weekend). I will definitely put the MazdaDrivers event at the top of my calendar. My very first event back around 2001 was with them (when it was still with MSCW).
So, my vote is for June.

I vote for PCA on the VIR F course 5/21,22 and 23. This year it's not the normal 3 day format because they're doing an instructor clinic on Friday but advanced/solo drivers can drive during the clinic on Friday as well. It's usually priced fairly but more importantly its good track time because you're driving w/ mostly Porsches and there's open passing in the advanced group and completely open passing in the instructor group (meaning passing in the corners).
If you're a novice there are also usually good instructors w/ lots of experience.

I'm all over it.
RA would be a real hump for me, but NJMP is a possibility. I'm also determined to get back up to WGI this year, but they don't do my traditional mon/tues before the Vintage Grand Prix date anymore, so may go another time.

I'll be at the First Settlers PCA 3 day event.
Fritz/Pete you two around June 19-20? We're building a Lemons car for the Summit race and might need another couple of drivers. I'm off to look at a BMW 535i tomorrow. PM me for more details.

We should have a dedicated Lemons thread since there looks to be at least 3 separate efforts going on right now not counting a few other RX-7 teams running events that aren't represented here.

Btw - anyone have dates for the Alfa-Romeo "Small Bore" event at VIR this year? It's usually in May and I've always had a great time there. Well run event and the displacement limits for student cars (<3.5L) makes it perfect for rotaries.

Pat,
I could be down w/ this. Gimme a call at 703 965 8244 (phone works like **** at work, so don't be surprised by voicemail).
You guys have any preference, May or June?
Fritz brings up a good point... more bang for the buck. I like to get as much for my dollar as possible, and a 3 day event really cuts down my per day cost opposed to a 2 day event. I'm still down with either or, but I think my preference is the FSR PCA.

Alright... let's shoot for May 21-23 at VIR with the FSR PCA. You can also just register for May 22-23 if you don't want to attend Friday. You can register here(doesn't open until Feb 22): http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...DB21EEF31BA43D
