I figured the turbo transition setting out for the Datalogit...I fully understand how it works...I will post the explanation when I finish writing it...in a week or so (I'm busy with school and stuff)!

Dale,
We have had an S4 adapter for some time now:

http://www.banzai-racing.com/product...ss_adapter.htm

We also just released an adapter to install the PFC into the Automatic FD's, that keeps the stock ecu for tranmission control

Thanks for the FAQ

Dale -

Thx for the FAQ. It proved useful in initial setup. Is there an advanced manual for the Power FC?

Here it is http://www.clubrx.org/media/pfc/PowerFC_FAQ.pdf
Please let me know if you have anything that should be changed, added, deleted, what have you.

Emissions Question

My rx7 will not pass emissions now that I have installed the Power FC. Is it because I removed the 4 wires for some if the US spec emissions stuff and if so how do I fix this and still use the Apexi.

The stock map for the PFC is pretty rich. Have you gotten it tuned yet or are you tuning yourself?

already tuned

Steve Kahn tuned it for me in SC. The car sat for 9 months at the body shop and the battery went dead. It passed the higher test but the lower one that has more load does not pass and the numbers are sort of high. how does the car use some of the emission componets without the wires being hooked up

hey guys I'm really new and have not done much with rx7s. My powerfc should be here in 2 or 3 days and i'm a little scared about starting it for the first time. I read and read and read but still not sure. Will I need to change the settings b4 I start it up? I have a 1992 jdm fd that was close to stock when I got it. thanks for your input!!

The "0000-0000" is a unit-specific serial number. They're all serialized so Apexi can keep track of them. I'm not sure if there's any further meaning to the serials themselves.
The "Type A" (old=FD3S, FD3S2, FD3S3) PFCs had a serial number in the form PFC FD3S yymm-xxxx where yy is the year of production and mm the month. xxxx is an ongoing serial number.

"Type B" (new=FD3S4, FD3S5, FD3S6) have a batch number instead of the production date. Known batch numbers are 000, 0005, 010, 020. (No idea why 0005 has a additional 0, probably a mistake).

I have a FD3S4-010-xxxx PFC here with version 5.08 and FD3S4-020-xxxx is version 5.08 as well, BUT: from what I can tell there are also FD3S4-020-xxxx PFCs out there with version 5.07 which doesn't make sense to me as of now.

Would be nice if those with a FD3S4 5.07 or 5.08 PFC could post their serial number.

Also does anyone have a default 5.07 DAT?

0005 is not a batch number but the date 2000/05 (old serial number scheme). So the batch numbers are 000, 010 and 020.

I was misinformed that there is a 020 with 5.07.

FD3S4 0005 = ????
FD3S4 000 = ????
FD3S4 010 = 5.08
FD3S4 020 = 5.08

I'll upload an Excel list later.

Great FAQ as well as other info listed! I soaked this info up like a sponge.

I just plugged my PFC in for the first time tonight. Car started fine and everything worked, but for some reason my stock tach isn't working now, yet the PFC is showing RPM's.

Anyone else encounter this problem before?

Apexi power Fc to mazda rx7 FC

Hi

I know that the PFC for mazda rx7 fc3s was discontinued by apexi, but on apexi usa site (http://www.apexi-usa.com/products/?id=5354), I saw the PFC with price ($1180.00) and part n. (4E14Z02) and without any information about discontinued. Anyone have any information about this? Peraps apexi have a new PFC for rx7 fc3s?

regards

I actually still have the same question as Rx7 Restorations. Here in Cali smog is a bit of problem, I also wonder if there is a way that our RX7 can still be smog legal using the current modification and PFC without swapping everything out and plugging back in the stock ECU. I do believe that a main cat is still a must, but under the hood, do we still need to go back to stock for us to pass smog?

Another question is for the 4 wire we have to cut/remove, these are NOT USED in JDM cars, then those 4 spots on the PFC (which is design for JDM car originally) shouldn't receive any signal or care if there is any signal, right? why do we need to remove/cut those wire? Cutting mean that the module leads to these wire will not function for sure, does the PFC send out wrong signal if the wire still there? I am sorry if I come up with this stupid question, please flame on if you have any answer for this. Thanks.

Dale,
You might want to add the pin ID to the four wires that have to be cut. Sorry, I'm just a FSM guy.

3J - EGR Switch- Blue/Green (L/G)
4F - Split air bypass - Black/Red (B/R)
4O - EGR Solenoid - Blue/Yellow (L/Y)
4P - AWS Solenoid - Brown/Yellow (BR/Y)

Just my 2 cents.
Steve

I have a quick question. I have a project car with a cosmo 13-re twin turbo rotary. The wiring harness and stock ecu are included but with no wiring support anywhere, so i can't get the engine to run. I was told the microtech lt10s ecu will solve my issue (just have to wire and set it up), but the power fc is about the same price and I know many pppl really like the tune-ablility of the apexi unit. So my question is, will the powerfc apexi unit work on my cosmo 13b or should i stick with getting a microtech? btw, i have a MAF not a map, i could buy a map, but just letting everyone know. Need help thanks!
