From reviewing the videos, these are the things I noticed.

Can there be a setting in there somewhere that will make the division of each window more subtle by perhaps making the separations transparent. Once a acceptable format is found be the user, a user could click a setting that locks the windows into there respective layout, and perhaps has a setting that allows transparency of the partitioned gray bars?

Can the streaming trend line of the knock output be formatted to fit window size ie horizontal width? This would roughly add an extra second to the time a user could look over and see a discontinuity as well.

Again, great work and thank you for making the effort to do this!

I think I know what you are getting at. If you look at the video, in the view menu, there is the full screen option. In the demo, it was not really possible for me to demonstrate "full screen" mode. When you switch to this mode, all borders around the applets dissapear and positions are locked.

I will add an option to "lock" windows as above regardless of screen mode.

Easily, but may leave this up to the community to fully customize or create applets / plugins which fully suit their specific needs. Since the applets will be open source as I say, people should have no great difficulty in figuring out how to make something that exactly suits their requirements. I do intent to release as many plugins as possible myself, aside from the basic ones that will ship with FCWatch.

I'm very sorry if this has been explained but I'm still a lil unsure about a couple of things.

I have been keeping an eye on this topic for some time now, progress is coming along nicely. I am intending to buy some sort of in car dvd player for the car so my question is regarding connectability & Useability.

I understand that a datalogit unit is required to connect between the ecu and diplay device but what i'm trying to get my head around is how do you actually open different screens and functions. Do I need to buy an in car dvd player that has a USB input? if so how are things moved around without a mouse? will touchscreen be sufficent?

Or is this software mainly designed for laptop/palm pilot use with a windows based operating system.

This software is designed for laptop or in-car pc use. The software can be used for logging runs and the graphical displays are excellent for tuning purposes, but there are those who will use this software as a digital display on their in-car pc / lcd screen setup.

I wish there was something we could do to help more than just critique.

Any clutch parts I have kicking around, or maybe a paypal donation to the cause we could make?

Hey man.. I'm droping the transmission tomorrow to replace the wedge collar tomorrow, my "development / testing platform" should be good to go!

Thanks for your kind offer. If you could donate an extra few hours in the day through paypal that would be great!

Just sent you a PM. Also just wondering of the possibilities of having a small button (symbol) right next to every guage to represent a shortcut to show you the peaks on that journey so far. So in real time you can just use the touchscreen and press * and it will instantly show you the peak for that individual guage. then you can press it again to go back to real time.

^ will do. I don't have it in the demo, but when you click (or "touch") the gauges, a menu appears with a few options - reset, close etc. You can have whatever functions you like encorporated into a gauge, since they are really applets in themselves, which can also display streaming data. You could even have an applet that just acts a standalone application, running within FCWatch.

Update: After waiting ages for parts, I have the transmission bolted up and clutch working. Will be starting the car this weekend, and then it's business as usual. Have a few things to tidy up with the software (testing etc) and will be ready for a release.

I did read a few posts back regarding the minimun requirements, however I just wanted your opinion on thses figures

Lilliput incar pc
1GHZ processor (800MHZ average)
512Mb DDR ram

I am wanting to listen to CD's / radio through Microsoft XP Media Centre Edition while using the FCWATCH program at the same time. Do you think this will be sufficient or will it be a bit laggy/jerky.

If I don't have to upgrade the RAM I don't want to.

Thanks

..or the Apexi Pro cable.

Update: my bus is back on the road, humming better than ever, so I'm back to business testing the software and putting a few finishing touches on it for release. I can't boost at the moment, so I won't be able to test everything until I run the rebuild in.

Hey I have a question Cathal, what is the mode in which we would relabel a gauge if it is not a standard PFC output?

Such as I don’t know WB or oil temp….I wonder what got me thinking about that one

Obviously you have thought of this I just cant remember it being mentioned.

Data is streamed as AN1 - AN4 for analog output channels. I must stress this will only be useful if you are using the Datalogit (or FC-Tune box when FastHatch releases it). This feature will not be available if you are using the Pro cable.

Basically, you capture this data in your FCWatch applet, then interpret and display it as you please. For example, if you were logging EGT with a 0-5v signal from a thermocouple and hook it up to AN1 on the datalogit, you would then calculate the relative temperature based on the 0-5v signal from the AN1 channel, and display it as Celcius or whatever in the applet.

FCWatch does provide a channel for logging / displaying WB feedback specifically and will ship with an applet for displaying WB.
