Looks good!

Let me know if you'd like a Nissan RB26DETT test pilot.

Cheers,
Dan

Looks Unreal!!

Just a couple of thoughts. With most car computers having say 7" screens, you would want to be able to run full-screen with out title bars etc... And also an option in the settings so this can be standard.

And, if you are running a lilliput touch screen (or any other touch screen), it would be good to be able to get to the options for any particular plugin via double-click (double-tap) of the plug-in in question.

Any sort of easy use / easy config from a touchscreen would be great for the in-car experience.

Like most other people, I can't wait for its release and would be willing to donate for it!

Dave.

i would hope they can be , for several reasons

1) type sizes
2) diferent gearboxs (auto etc)
3) different models ! (i.e. Impreza )

it does look really good, and i shall be putting it on a screen in the car when i finish installing it. its not touch screen, so i'm tempted to scrap what i've done and start with a new touch one

Yes, full screen mode is currently implemented in FC Watch. You can switch modes, even resolution on-the-fly, or you can have the application start up in full screen mode.

This functionality is implemented in the applets themselves. You can easily create some very fancy interfaces which would work perfectly with touch screen applications. I will be starting work on a few interactive applets shortly, however I may release the software with basic set of "display" applets and release interactive applets later.

Of course, since all applets will be open source, you can easily configure them or change their functionality to meet your specific needs. Alternatively, applets can use their own seperate config files to hold specific, user defined settings.

Update.. there's a bit of a spanner in the works at the moment!

My FD is down.. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?p=5812892

Just when I was getting ready to finalize testing (in the field) and make a release for the FD.

Over the weekend and late last week I made some great progress and made further advancements regarding performance. Nothing major, however I'm fussy to say the least with the quality of my software. A requirement is that it is perfectly viable alternative for logging (dyno, road etc) and not just a pretty application for display purposes.

So, this is really just an FYI. FCWatch is still full steam ahead.

July 30th. Possibly sooner. I have one or two things I wasn't expecting to deal with on my own time, as you can see.

Sorry n87 a version for the mac os is unlikely. I'm working on a version for linux which won't be released for some time.. Means you could possibly run it on Yellow Dog for example.

Cheers,

That’s a pretty good question, how close are the data streams between 8,16,and 32 bit systems? And what is the intercapatability of the systems if known?

Patiently awaiting a release, and ready and willing to test this on 2 different carPC platforms.

Any new teasers?

Ok, just a quick update. I will posting a video of the software working in live and playback mode over the weekend if that is enough of a teaser for you. I've been recently working on the performance aspects of the software but at the moment I'm finishing off engine removal this weekend and hopefully cracking it open if I have time. All unexpected hassle and expense for me at this point (because I should be finishing off the house we're building)!

Anyway, all I can say is the software is damn fast in terms of display response and logging. This was a question somebody raised before, and I can say that with a basic 1Ghz, 256RAM the software will fly and gauges respond as close to realtime as you can get, given the delays in comms from the PFC through the interface cable / box / whatever you are using. I am testing the software with the Pro cable at the moment also.

Daaammm - it will work with all FD3S PFC revisions, so long as you have an interface like the datalogit / pro cable. My FD is and import (April 96) RHD and the software was initially tested in the field on this car. There will be versions released for all other PFC platforms also (different cars). All PFC's are 16 bit. The data channels are the same for all FD PFC revisions.

ky7,
I really commend you for the work you put into this project. I read through the thread and its looking great. I was wondering what computer requirements it needs so that it can run smoothly on a laptop. I might run out to buy a cheapie just for this application.

Hikaru, minimum requirements would be..

* Intel Pentium II 450MHz or faster processor (or equivalent)
* 128MB of RAM
* 200MB Free Disk Space
* Microsoft Windows 98 / Windows Me / Windows 2000 / Windows XP / Windows Server 2003

It would be ideal if you have specs better than the above.. the quicker the machine the quicker the sample rate.

I also recommend you have a display with capability to display modes of 800x600 or greater. This is to accomodate visibility given the sheer number of applets / gauges you can display at any given time.

I will provide a more comprehensive spec on the forthcoming FCWatch website.

ky7, this looks almost too good to be true ! Very impressive work.
I'm ordering my PFC Pro within a week, is there any chance my GTi-R can volunteer for testing aswell ?
I hope you receive a Nobel price for this software, looks fantastic !
