Just need some clarification on boost control...

I've heard some conflicting things and it's made me confused...

1) You cannot control boost from the PFC commander
2) You can control boost from PFC commander
3) You can only control boost with a PFC's add-on boost controller
4) You can control boost from PFC but only up to 1.1kg/cm^2
5) You can only change boost settings properly with a datalogit

Can someone clarify for me if my PFC commander can actually control my boost? I know there are two settings you can save. These are the settings I am planning to save:

1) Pr 0.85 kg/cm^2
Sc 0.80 kg/cm^2

2) Pr 1.05 kg/cm^2
Sc 1.00 kg/cm^2

The first setting for daily driving and the second setting for some spirited driving. Will this work for me or would I need to install a Greddy Profec to control my boost?

BTW, before I get slammed, these are my mods:

HKS TP
Greddy Elbow
Power FC with controller
Blitz SMIC with hard pipes
HKS SS intake
Megan DP
Megan MP
RB dual exhaust
Fluidyne radiator
R1 oil coolers
ACT light flywheel
Forum member's solenoid upgrade
99 spec y-pipe
Aluminum AST
850cc primary injectors
NipponDenso fuel pump
NGK 9s for leading and trailing
RB plug wires

I've also test my compression and it came out to 105s all around and my stock boost setting was good at 10-8-10 so everything is all good and ready to be tuned.

All I really wanna know is...can I change my boost with my PFC Commander and how reliable are the settings?

Thanks to all those that reply!

If you have the stock boost controlling hardware, you can control boost from the PFC. Conversely, if you've got a Profec or something there is no connection to the PFC so there can't be any control.

Boost cut is .25bar above whatever you set the value to in the PFC.

The PowerFC can control the factory boost solenoids. This will give you BASIC boost control. It can only work as good as the factory system. I've already had spiking on my primary turbo that I had to drill the primary pill out to solve.

IMHO, the factory boost control system works great on a stock or near-stock car. Mazda designed it to work under certain parameters, which it does quite well, but it starts having problems if you want to bring the boost up.

I recommend using the built-in boost control on a lightly modified car, or as a stopgap solution before getting a good boost controller. A real boost controller will give you far better flexibility and control. The boost control kit is OK, but for the money I'd rather have a boost controller with more features and adjustability.
