Hello everyone,

just wanted to post a quick update.

I'm working on a low cost connector for the PFC, where low cost means below $50. The box has no analog inputs or connector for the Commander.

I've also just made this screenshot. Lets see what you guys can tell from it

Good night!

I'm also working on the same thing and have the hardware together. I'm just confirming with some monitoring of the SCL and SDA lines of how different from I2C my firmware code for the box needs to be. Just need the interface as well and not interested in the analog or Commander connectors as other USB & serial devices can give me other things I need but not add to the cost of a fairly simple hardware device.

You're compiling on Linux o/s for the new cheap ASUS eee PC your FC Tune software. I presume so that you'll be able to run the software directly on that PC. Nice in that it's a solid state unit so can be bouncing around in the car while driving. The X Windows interface should still be quite acceptable with the way that the eee PC Linux distribution has themed it. Based on some of the files too its likely you're going to use some charting and file monitoring capability to track logging and graphical displays on the version of the software your compiling for the device as well. (but that's just a guess)

My project is a headless unit using USB Flash memory, but for different purposes and am using a customised LinkSys embedded linux h/w platform as the starting point to make the logging aspect of what I'm doing a bit cheaper and still keep it physically separate from the actual PFC interface.

Almost correct, I'm actually compiling on the ASUS Eee PC
I think for $299 that's the perfect device for the car. The above screenshot is the actual resolution of the display.

FastHatch.... Thanks for coming up with a more affordable solution for connecting to the PFC.... since the hardware does not have any analog input as you have mentioned... does that mean you have already implemented on the next update of FC Tune the capability to allow simultaneous analog input on more than one COM port (i.e. PFC on COM1 and wideband on COM2)?

Also, are you planning to manufacture this hardware yourself and privately sell to all those interested? or would you post instruction for putting this together so those who would like to attempt making this on own would be able to do so with your instruction?

This is funny, I was considering making a copy of the datalogit, because it is so basic it is pathetic. So I cant justify 300 bucks for it. If you produce your cheap box, I assume you can't truly tune with it because you cant datalog without wideband inputs?

fast hatch have you ever heard of this self tuning program for the apexi power fc!!
called Free program and VB6 source code for Datalogit !!
it was released over the fc datalogit yahooused group!! under is the link for the program!! they say if coded for the 1zz-fe motor!!

http://spyderchat.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=45059

It supports just the 1ZZ-FE and 2ZZ-GE platforms, but could be modified
to support others. It is jam-packed with cool features, many things
that I've seen on people's wish lists here. It is being used by quite
a few people and has been for I'd say 2 1/2 years now. I just don't
have the spare time, information, or resources to make it work with
other platform. Enjoy!
if anyone would like to read all that was told about the sofeware just respong and i will paste the rest of the chat about the program!!
fast hatch if this does not fit into your thread i will not speak about it anymore

No disrespect to the author of Copilot here, it's a pretty cool app for the 1ZZ and 2ZZ, but I've made the same mistake to write the app for specific models. As soon as you then try to add support for other models (and there's a total of 150 or so) you'll figure out that you have to rewrite a lot.

I don't know under which terms and conditions the source has been released, but I encourage everyone to adapt Copilot to other models. Unfortunately I don't have any spare time left for yet another project.

Can i come live with you while you work on this in march? I'll be your personal slave the entire time. However i won't cook, do windows, dishes, vaccum, wash clothes, cars, or any type of washing of your property. I don't run errands either. However I will stand over your shoulder and watch your genius ooze through your fingertips into the computer. After the oozing genius process is complete, I will aid you in copying the completed program onto my thumbdrive and allow you to take me back to the airport. And you'll only have to pay my flight to your house and cover my food.

Sound reasonable? I'm Available immediately!!

Great news there Fasthatch !
Just one thing though, no analog input on your cheapo pfc interface box ? Then how will the fc-tune software work with the wideband lambda signal ?

Regards,
William

A first Linux version - with limited functionality though - will be released later this month.

Not yet, but please make a scan of your PFC and email me the file as soon as you have your Datalogit. But it may take 2 month or so till I can add support because I still have a stack of models I need to add support for.
