Have i already mentioned that Pocket PCs and WinCE are a PITA?

I think i should make a menu like on the Commander with Prev. and Next.
Would you like to have the Commander look and feel on the Pocket PC?

Monitor
- Basic
- Advanced
- Sensor data

Settings
- Maps
- - Base map
- - Fuel correction map
- - Ignition map
- Injection
- - Cranking
- - Accel. Enrichment
- - Injectors
- - Lag time
- - Overlap
- - Injection corrections
- - - Inj vs..
- - - Inj vs..
- Ignition
- - Dwell
- - ...
- - Ignition corrections
- - - Ign. vs..
- - - Ign. vs..
- Setup
- Functions

Who would like to have FC Tune for Pocket PC and Smartphone?
If there is enough interest i may port FC Tune to Smartphone.

I of course would like to have fc tune for pocket pc. I think the commander style menus would be fine. Just as long as it doesn't end up more than 3 menus deep. It gets confusing remembering where the correct section is, also navigating through the sections to get to another gets tedious. Need any box beta testers?

This brings up something else I've been thinking about recently. With all of this talk of emulating the PFC etc would it be possible to simply emulate the PFC display on the computer? Although of course the FC Edit monitoring functions would be more powerful than a simple commander display, I think if you could emulate the display easily it might be useful for people with built-in monitors in their cars. Just an idea.

I personally think having your software be portable to Pocket PC is a huge selling point. I don't even currently have a Pocket PC but I'm now considering getting one solely for the car so I don't have to lug around the big laptop... I'm personally not as interested in the smartphone, but others might...

However, I am more interested in the PC version FC Tune having all the functionionality of FC Edit so that I can completely switch over to it (in particular, logging data including AN inputs, and overlaying logs on the fuel maps). Pocket PC, smartphone, etc is just an added bonus to me.......

And I don't see any problems with the PocketPC version working similarly to the commander.

Great work!

Agreed, haven’t been regularing the forum and this software is really reaching maturity fast!

I will defiantly be keeping a close eye on this now!

Some of my gripes and wishes that I would like if they can be integrated or if they are applicable.

Smoothing of displayed logged data if this is posible, my LM1 does this and is a great benefit when displaying data to an in car monitor. To much bouncing and movement get annoying, though I wish to have the actual data stored, I just wish I had the option to display it as I wish.

Also would like to have the option to display an analog gauge instead of just digital readout only. Works great when you are concentrating on the environment, and just catch the position of a needles in relation to display out of the corner of your eye.

Would like a blinking window option for the watches when a max value is reached. Something that is glaringly obvious if it is a important parameter or testing is going on

Fix the floating ground issue so that all aux logging channels can be used without AN1-Anx

A standard included regulated 5V power source for logging accessories.

It's not a good idea to draw the power from the PFC. I don't want to find out how much amp you can draw, do you?

I may implement analog gauges later, bar graphs will be the next step.

It doesn’t necessarily need to be drawn from the PFC does it? Couldn’t it be a separate circuit built into your box, and somehow watching/monitoring the voltage fluctuation from the car/ecu, and adjust all aux inputs manually without wasting 25 percent of the inputs?

Like I said if it is possible, just a gripe I have about my fcbox, but I am grateful for the work they did and am looking forward to a better solution with a more forward thinking creator.

I may make a Mac version for OSX later. But that doesn't have priority for me, there are only a few Mac users.

On some Win95/Win98 systems you may get the message "mfc42u.dll not found", just copy the dll into the app folder in that case. Also Unicode is not supported on Win95A without the unicode layer, in that case you might want to update your 10 years old OS

I have replaced the 0.51 version with an ANSI version because the unicode version does not run on Win95 and Win98. Some people still use Win98 on their laptop.

For those people who don't like the individual windows the next version will also have a tabbed window for the fuel and ignition settings

I should get that done on the weekend as well as some other features.

It is also possible to view the same settings in the tabbed window and in an individual window at the same time and if you change a value in one window both are updated

Btw. FC Tune has now exactly 1 megabyte of source code

I still do not understand the advantage of your software, could you direct me to where you explained it, or did you?

Nice! I'm impressed with the new tabs.

FastHatch can answer that question for himself, but in the meantime, some of the advantages of this software are: 1) He plans on either supporting it and adding features or just releasing it open source if he loses interest, unlike the datalogit where we haven't seen an update in years, 2) It can get to additional settings that the datalogit doesn't even know about, 3) It will run on multiple platforms including PocketPC, 4) From the source I've seen, it appears to be a lot better written and documented, including lots of additional checks to make sure data is read and written correctly, 5) works with other interfaces and cars other than the datalogit .... I'm sure I missed plenty of others but I think that's the high points of the software right now...

alos one other major factor is that the fc tune and cable are generic whereas datalogit is specific to engine model that the unit is brought for, ie u cant use a nissan rb25 datalogit on a honda b16 powerfc

Version 0.52 is available for download: http://www.fctune.com/download/FCTune_0_52.exe

New features:

- If a range of cells is selected in the maps all cells are updated if you enter a new value
- Injection vs. Accelerate TPS
- Tabbed fuel settings

You can open the fuel settings view with F9 and then switch between the settings with Ctrl+PageUp/PageDown. Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab is possible too.

I still need to set the focus automatically in the grid and i will also add accelerator keys (F2 - F10) for the maps and tabbed ignition view so that the mouse is not necessary (ever tried to use the mouse while driving in a car with a stiff suspension?).

Let me know if you like the tabbed view. I add one for the ignition settings too. In one of the next version it will be possible to define own tabbed or splitted views.

That's what i have on my to do list for the next version(s):

- Map breakpoints setting
- Protect setting
- o2 feedback setting
- Warning setting
- Ignition split view
- Injector duty cycle / Target lambda / Target AFR view
- Monitoring / Logging
- Keyboard handling

Nice job ! one more time

Tabbed version is nice to have a fast overview of all maps and go directly to the one you wanna edit !

"paulr33" has written that FCTune is working on a generic interface. Does it mean that it works with a standard I2C/RS232 signal converter ?
so the interface is just a 'passive' one ? no character translation or specific command frame sent to drive the interface (not the PFC but your interface).

I may do some test with prototype interface if you need so (but only on subaru ecus). Let me know.
