Hi fritts, I am working on an application for this as we speak (FCWatch). The front end is pretty much complete (I think I uploaded an early shot before, but things are coming along since then). The gauges are highly customisable plugins which you can create / modify yourself. The gauges will provide a display for all of the real time monitoring commands. The main idea behind this is that it is customisable to the extreme, and it is event driven - allowing almost endless possibilities for data display, warnings, peak hold or whatever else you can think of can be implemented by the user.

I would like to stress that this is a completely seperate project from FC Tune, and is in no way in competition with FC Tune. I have the commications layer working and most packet data decoded however a few things are holding me up at the moment...

I'll start with command 0xDA (Commander Display Data)..

FastHatch.. I have most of the values decoded except for boost. Can you give info (formula) for how you convert from short word for "boost" value to mmHg's / kgcm^2 representation? Many thanks..

Yes, you could email (andre at fctune dot com) me some log files. Log files with several MB are welcome too, but please zip/rar/... them.

P.S.: You can also email me calibration (.dat) files.

It's either mmHg or kg/cm², depending of the value.

E.g..

boost_val = byte1 + byte2 * 256

if (boost_val > threshold) {
boost_val = (boost_val - threshold) * 0.01
} else {
boost_val = 0.01359 * boost_val
}

This method is not yielding expected results for me, so I assume I'm on the wrong track. I have the following q's for you FastHatch..

What have you found "threshold" value to be?
What equation have you used to show mmHg or Kg/cm2, once the value is known?

Thanks for the reply, and your input on this is very much appreciated.

I thought i give a little update. The next version will not only be in English but also in German and French. Spanish, Italian and Japanese is also planned.

Additionally for every menu item, button, cell etc. there will be a tooltip which describes the setting.

I know that most users on this board here are very advanced, but a lot of users have no idea what 'injector overlap' is. Especially if english is not there first language.

So instead of writing a manual which most users doesn't read, is always outdated and not maintainable (especially in several languages) i decided to make tooltips instead.

Any help with translations into other languages is appreciated.

(Thanks for the french translation, Jon)

Fast Hatch, great work so far. you have really done alot being a one man coding show. I cant wait to get one of these. I been holding out for your as I dont want a datalogit

can you have setting to turn on and off tool tips. after you use and learn a program I would get tired of tool tips popping up over every thing you mouse over.

Thanks. Actually it's too much work for one developer but I try the best. You can buy any of the availabe boxes and use it with FC Tune.

Yes, you can turn the tool tips off. But please keep in mind that you have novice as well as expert users. So someone who only want to raise the rev limiter should be able to use the app as well as professional tuners.

Some infos about the progress i've made in the last days:

FC Tune will have the same look and feel as Office 2003, finally got the library and license

If you look on the following screenshot you will not only notice the new look but also the tabs above the workspace:

When i've started working on the import function for log files i run into one problem, if i open a RX7 data file and then a Honda log file, what should the app do? Close the data file? Prompt that the log file can not be opened? What if the user wants to open more than one log file to compare them? I hope everyone likes the tabbed solution as much as i do. It's now possible to open infinite files, no matter if data or log files, Mazda, Honda, Subaru or whatever. In the future it will also be possible to view files side-by-side as well as a comparison function.

If you look at the caption of the pane on the right you see a "pin icon":

If you want to edit a data file and need the working space, just hide the panes,:

If you, like me, only check the switches when you install a PFC, you may prefer this:

Maybe you don't need the description and prefer this:

Or this:

An other option i will add is to have only a few selected switches in the channel window.

I hope Apex'i is not 'not amused' when there is a replacement for FC Pro and FC Commander Pro available for the japanese market.

Don't confuse Power FC Pro with FC Pro, FC Pro is the Power Excel Dealer software.

A version were you won't miss any feature from FC Edit should be available within 6-8 weeks. My list of ideas is still very long but those are all additional features i will implement in the next month. The Windows CE version also needs some work, i guess 2-3 weeks. While i take care that the source is portable to CE you can't adopt the user interface design from a desktop application.

Would you like to be able to switch the language on the fly? I didn't thought there is demand for this, currently the user interface is in the same language as your current Windows session.

Fasthatch,
Are you going to work on a version for Palm OS. I am looking at PDA's and want to make sure that it will be compatible. Any suggestions? Also will there be capabilities to bluetooth the connection between datalogit and palm?

Thanks
