Finally got the a/c going in my car. I have no issues with the fan inside the car blowing. BUT

When I turn the a/c on, the cooling fans do not come on. My compressor is running, a/c cools great while cruising. Just when the temps move up before the fans turn on by coolant temp, it gets warm.

Should the fans turn on when a/c is requested, regardless of the fan temperature settings seen in datalogit? (Fan1 A/C, Fan1 no A/C, Fan2)

 

From what im reading, the fans should go on low with a/c on regardless of settings or coolant temperature.

 

Did you find this out? Mines the same no fans until I hit 80c (99 RS stock)

 

No I haven't yet. I had some very smart people tell me its likely a ground in the dash somewhere but I haven't taken it apart to see yet. On a really hot day a month or so ago, I did have the fans come on for coolant temp around 90c and stay on after it cooled down a bit with the a/c running.

Thank you, I read through that thread before. I've gone through the entire schematics, workshop manual troubleshooting etc. The fans should come on when you request a/c regardless of coolant temp etc but mine do not. Checked everything in the circuit (changed hvac controls, tested and swapped thermosensor) outside of tracing individual wires for breaks and grounding points in the dash. Cooling fan relay #1 is not receiving the switched ground it needs when a/c is requested. The ground is done through the hvac module in the dash. So about the only thing left it could be is that module not getting a proper ground.
