im wondering the same thing... mines set to 189 on and 184 off. fan seems to run most of the time.

im running the low speed on my fan tho... time to try high and see if it cycles.. my alternator hates this efan.

yes it should and it does, but it is adjustable. most car manufactures have electric fans come on anywhere between 210 most improts and 225 some domestics.

On at ~195º off at ~190º as measured by my autometer gauge in the block. The probe for the e-fan switch is in the radiator, though, so I don't know the exact temperature it hits when it turns on, I just set it via engine temp. It works perfectly for me. Cruising I see 180-190 degrees most the time, stop and go ~190 on average temp days, ~200 on hot days.

Mine comes up at 175F, right around when the thermostat opens; this is on a flex a lite black magic e fan.

What's the point of that? The fan would run constantly. The fan is only supposed to run when the car isn't moving fast enough to stop temps rising. Anything below ~190degF is totally pointless.

And unless you have the wrong thermostat, it should open at 180degF.

Bingo.
Why bother having a thermostat switch if you set it too low?
It'll switch on and never turn off if you set it too low.
The motor runs "optimal" from 180F to 200F.
I think people get too paranoid about overheating, so they set it too low.

Your thermostat will prevent the car to cool down under 180F.
