Power FC anyone using an avcr/safc mount to hold the fc commander?
anyone using an avcr/safc mount to hold the fc commander?
i bought an avcr mount from someone because i read a bunch of posts saying that it can be used to mount the fc commander but i can't really find a good place to mount the avcr mount... anyone have pics of the avcr mount used as a fc commander holder?
Here are a couple pictures. You really have to bend the metal on the mount to match the curve of the side of the dash. I'm very happy with how mine turned out, you can easily remove the pfc if you mount it with Velcro, plus it swivels great on the hinge to let the passenger monitor stuff too.
Thanks a lot FD Racer. Yea, I was thinking you had to bend the AVC-R bracket quite a bit to get it to fit right. I'm currently trying to find a way to mount it a little higher up so it's easier to see but it does fit much better where you have yours mounted.
I went through 4 different types of tape before I found one that would stick to the dashboard. Forget about the crap that it comes with, and forget about the standad 3M Foam Mouting Tape. The only thing that worked for me was 3M Trim Adhesive. It's a black rubbery double sided tape that is used to mount trim pieces to the exterior of a car. Make sure to clean the dash real well with rubbing alcohol to get all the Armor-All off too.

The tape it came with worked fine for me. It's all about bending the metal to match the contour of the dash perfectly and like jr. said....clean the surfaces really well. I have since mounted my DIY wideband display on top of the commander and it has held up quite well.

This one is the best looking. I'm suprised Apexi doesn't have a universal mount of some sort.

Good success with universal mount from Radio Shack
I just installed the vent mount universal cell phone holder from Radio Shack with good success. Clipped it on to the driver's side center vent. It is angled just perfect to read the screen, and it is still close to your normal field of vision while driving (unlike the units that are down by the cig lighter or mounted on the other side of the tranny tunnel). Easy to remove if you want. I'm using little plastic clips designed to hold down a computer mouse cable to a desk or adjustable keyboard tray to route the wire around my air and radio controls.
Any of the methods discussed will work without too much effort - just depends on your preference.
