I have just purchased a PFS Purple Management system from another member on the forum and thought maybe u guys can give me some insight. Good or bad, i'd like to hear your experiences with it.

I have an 94 Auto with the mods listed in my sig. I haven't installed the PFS yet. I know people hve their opinions about it so i'd like to hear what u have to say, cuz im gettin a lot of mixed opinions. The couple tings i like this over the PFC is that i wont have to get a boost control like u do with a pfc, cuz i can set the level i wanna run at. 1(10 psi), 2(12psi), 3(15psi). Any info and advice how i should this unit is greatly apprecited. Thanx a lot in advance

I had the purple box for 4+ years with no problems. Only shortcoming on the PMC is the lack of fuel injector sizing adjustments. BUT, RC engineering can now enlarge the primaries also, which means that you could keep the 550cc to 850cc ratio with larger injectors. In theory it should work.

 

This unit if fantastic. I have a 94 auto...with a couple of mods in addition to the PMC/Tunning and you will be fine....I`m running 15psi boost with no problems.

If you have the '99 updated "pink" software on the unit then you will be happy with it.
The early software had some issues (you need to keep in mind that wide band tuning a street car was really exotic stuff in '94).

IMHO - you should disable the 3 way switch, just cut the wire off and tape it so it can't short. This is tha same as setting it to position one.

If you read through Wade's info a really important thing to note is that there is only a single set of "vent values' that can be edited (stored in position 3) and these apply to all three of the switch settings. This is how the boost is controlled (assuming an open exhaust). So you need to set these values to your desired boost level and then tune the fuel levels in the first postion to correspond to your boost settings. Keep in mind that the unit is not specific to the RX-7 so the switch settings are probably useful if you have a NA car. I think that alot of the bad press for this unit came from a combination of the early software and the misunderstanding (PFS must assume some blame) that the three switch positions allowed three different boost levels to maintained in a car with an open exhaust.

 

PFS Unit works great and I can't imagine why anybody would want to disable the switch.

So TBC100 what do you use the switch for?
Are you saying that you have three different boost settings setup (this is what PFS advertises) and the switch controls these? You don't have boost creep beyound each of the three settings? This was not my experience at all. Sure you can use the switch settings to have three different fuel and ignition maps but if you you can't control three different boost levels why would you need to?

 

Hrm, mine works at 3 differnt boost levels, my fuel and timing are identical on all 3 maps I just have boost settings for 8, 12, and 14 psi. And I've never seen any creep.

 

ive had mine for about a year, with no problems. great deal for the money unless you want to do big upgrades

 

what are you guys doing with the keypad? just putting it in the glovebox or do you have a mount for it?
