Sr20

So I have been thinking after my next motor blows I am gonna give a SR swap a try. I am just finishing up my turbo swap but I am planning ahead. I would rebuild the 13b and port it and probably put it in a vert. my major question is is there a company that makes mounts and anything else I would need for the swap? also could i just use a s13/s14 drive shaft or would i need a new one any help would be appreciated. also im not doing this for the bs reliability excuse but it has peaked my interest.

P.S. If you feel like flaming go set yourself on fire it is not welcome here.

thats what i had figured but i know that ls1 swaps are popular enough that company's are making swap kits and the SR is such a popular motor that it was worth asking.

I am doing a full nissan ca18det sap into my fc3s, going dry sump to fit it in, and the whole project is gonna run about 10 grand to get it totally done and show worthy. Now, to mention, I have already invested over a hundred hours into getting as far as I have, and the motor hasn't even been test fitted yet. And I have spent right at 4000 dollars. Swapping a four cylinder into an fc is hardly worth it, but I am hard headed and I know that this my currently attainable dream car, which is what I am building. Try a v6 or v8 swap for a much easier, cheaper time. The vq30 goes in from the nissan maxima, and the the 350z motor. Gotta have the z tranny for either swap though.

oh I almost forgot if you want a motor that is in the mazda family and is compareable to the sr20 you should take a look at a FE3 aka FE DOHC. WIth a truck bellhousing it will bolt to your tranny and lets you keep your drivetrain.

I believe an fe3 swap would also yield the same problems as other inline 4 swaps, with the sump of the oil pan conflicting with the subframe and steering rack. Would have to move the drivetrain back some and make new mounts on the block, or build a new subframe. I can't vouch for sure, but that is just run of the mill with this kind of conversion.

wow i i haven't checked this thread in a while and this is what i get awesome. Thanks for the input guys and i have no problem with the mazda family of motors per say its just that there dosnt seem to be anything that fits my wants in it. I might have to look into the FE3 swap.

Lookie what I saw today....

I've been considering this swap for a little while, I'm going to pick the brain of the shop that did that one there and see if it's worth it or not before I commit.

I'm getting an RB20 sawp next week to drop into my FC. We'll see how that goes..... Hopefully the long f'er fits.

I hate to **** in your snow, but won’t the hot air from the radiator be heating (or just making it less effective) the intercooler?
