whos interested in sr20 swap?
This has been done in the FD and I'm thinking on having some friends of mine make a kit out of it. Who thinks this would sell? I personally (please don't bash me for it) love the sr20, and hate the 13B with a passion. The owner of the rx7 that did this had blown 7 (yep, thats what he said) engines and was sick of it. The sr20 is a lightweight motor and shouldnt hurt handling for all the purists out there. The sr20 FD car has a stock block and theyve got it running 10s right now. Anyone that thinks this would sell, let me know. I'd also like personal opinions on this idea. Please, if you feel like bashing or talking ****, keep your mouth shut. Theres a difference between constructive critisizm and flat at **** talking.

If people want it then it would be a good idea. If those same people could afford it then it would be a great idea. What the general consensus is, I don't know. you might want to start a poll to see if it will be a profitable venture. (That is strickly speaking from a business perspective)
Would I? Don't think so. I don't hate the rotary nor do I think I will. If I get to the point where I am blowing them left and right, then I would probably go for it but I would not blame the rotary because it would be a problem with tuning or my own stupidity. (car enthusiast perspective)

Wow you "hate the 13B with a passion," Why? I don't "think" will sell, the SR20 kit that is. The SR20s are hard to get now. Most 240sx guys are going to RBs engines to swap because sr20s are hard to get and alot of money. It's weird but there are more RBs engines than SRs so RB is cheaper.
Ok forget the cost, would people still love it? The 13Bs have history. SR20 might but not as well known. 13b also makes BETTER sound than SR. The layout kicks *** on the car as it is why change it? I have learned that take the 7 lightly is costly but if you take care of it, no problems.
You might sell couple kits but I think most 99.999% will be HAPPY to stay with 13B. Than again SR20 is like that V8 swap but less power, so the kit does reach any special performance over stock engine.
my two cents...

the rotary sounds like a civic with a "large and in charge" muffler on it and no cat. the SRs arent hard to find at all, but your right, the RB is easier to find. Do you think the RB swap would sell better?

dude....you might get your *** kicked by one of the members, "the rotary sounds like a civic with a "large and in charge" muffler on it and no cat." Let's watch it, yeah! hahahaha. Anyhow the issue in hand. I also know that the RB swap is easy on the 240sx due to the mounts being similar.
Would that be a better seller, perhaps because there are alot more power produced by that engine. If you change to RB than you have to compete with 20Bs. You kind of get beat up on sales there. I have no idea if these stuff sale because it weird what you are doing, why? Well first you are taking out one of the specialty item off of the car. It's like going to a steak house ordering a HUGE steak and when that moment come to eat it, the steak taste and feels like card-board. Yeah huge upset.

I personally wouldnt do a swap but if I were going to spend all the money doing a non rotary swap I'd probably go with the LS1 swap.....course like everything it depends on cost.
Still though, I dont see why people would want to unless they just dont have any rotary support in thier area and dont want to take the time to learn. There is no excuse for blowing 7 engines and blaming it on the engine. There are thousands of people making a ton of power and not blowing engines so it tells me something other than the engine design was a fault......it was probably user error as usual
