Twin Dizzy Confusion

I have a '73 12A and 4 speed.

What CONFUSES me is that the Internet says this should have had a top mount starter. It does not, it has a bottom mount starter, and what looks like a generic ribcase 4 speed. (I assume, it looks like every other ribcase I have seen in pictures)

Would an RX-7 starter work with this? I've heard that the starter will interchange with single dizzy ribcase bellhousings, but then I have also heard that all twin dizzy had top mount starters...

The late 73 RX-2 wagon had a twin dizzy bottom mount starter setup. It was kind of a mutt year, like how the 83 was kinda that way.

Well, it IS a four-door car.

Hmm. It occurs to me that the pile of parts that came with the car included TWO radiator/oil cooler assemblies. I wonder if the engine I have is even from this car.

But it's still a twin dizzy and it's still a bottom mount starter...

It could be a rx3 transmission. 73 rx3 had bottom mounted starter and rib case transmission.

I would hope so, it came out of my '73 RX-3...

Well, apparently it did, anyway. The PO partially disassembled the car in the late Seventies and then it all became a home for wayward mice.

No. It was six years old when he parked it, so it's pretty rusted. Also dented all to hell.
