Turbo Rx-2

Ok, here's the deal. I have the chance to get a 4dr rx2 for free so I am thinking of selling my 510 and putting my turbo motor/trans into the rx2. For any of you that have put the ser 4/5 13bt motor into an rx-2, how well does it fit? Also I was planning on using the stock ser4 turbo tranny. Does anyone know how well this tranny will fit or how much cutting/banging would be needed to make it work. (I used to like the looks of the 2door rx2 much better than the 4door but after looking at a few nice 4doors from down under they are starting to grow on me.....anyways it's free).

how much would you be selling the 510. I just want a rough idea on how much time I would need to kiss *** to my wife....

Yeah any pics of the 510?

As for fiting a S4 13BT, it is pretty simple, just use a 1st gen front cover, the GSL-SE is the easiest to do it with.. also will probably need the pan.

As for the tranny, well you will have to make a custom crossmember which is pretty easy, and you will need to probably modify where the shifter comes through (not sure on that though)..

The use a shortened TII driveshaft with your choice of rear-end.

What kind of rear would you recommend for an rx-2? Can you make the gsl-se work? I want to run an lsd and don't really want all the weight of a ford 9 if I don't need it. I should initially be putting out about 260 hp at the engine but someday may bump it up to 400. Not planning to drag it, more track if anything so I won't be dumping the clutch all that much. I think this rx2 may be an auto so maybe it will have a bigger tunnel for the tranny.

I currently have the 510 advertised in the recycler at 3,000 obo. I have a student from usc who wants me to hold it for him for about a week. He says he will give me 2500. I'm not really in a rush to sell it, sometimes I think maybe I should just use it because I really want a car that will handle and I like the independent rear suspension on it. The only rust problems it has are the passenger side floorpan and drivers side floorpan (barely). I have replacement floorpans for it though that can be welded in. I am the second owner. I brought this car back from AZ. It has some dents and the interior is untouched as far as restoration goes. I do have a new dash cap to replace the old one. The car starts and runs good. If you are interested PM me with your email and I will send you some pics of it. I tried to take pics off all the bad parts. Much easier than me explaining it. Of course the pic below doesn't show any of the flaws but I got more pics of all the dents.

The pre 83 LSD center section out of an rx7 will only fit into the 77 & 78 RX3 SP models.

I have the small rx7 pre 83 in my Rx2 with the 4.44 gears. I have a 13bna supercharged in mine now but I am doing part of your install since I am putting a cosmo 13bre and turbo xsmn in mine also. At the moment I am installing 4 puck Volvo discs and caliphers I got from Aussie land and working on my gas tank to supply for fuel flow. I will keep you up to date on my install if you like and if you get yours going first let me know. Old rotor head.

Mr Masda, Sounds good. I will keep you guys up to date, and keep us up to date about your project. I've been trying to contact my friend who know's about the rx-2 for free but he's been out of town. He said that the car was parked in this guys garage for 10 yrs so hopefully it's pretty good shape.

This is my old RX2. To fit the 13b into it we just used a reversible sump to clear the x-member. Gearbox mounts had to be made up (using a series 4 turbo box) and a custom tailshaft. Rear end is a RX7 Mazda LSD 4.44 ratios with the axles cut to fit

No 1st gen came with 4.44 gears. You can get Mazda Race diffs, that are LSD and have different ratios (like 4.44).

In Australia it's reasonably common to use pre 85 Toyota Hilux rear ends, which have a variety of ratios, are strong, and not as heavy as 9" diffs.
