Do you have a better shot of that elbow coming off the throttlebody? I need to fab one up for mine. I was going to go with the Greddy elbow but I decided just to fab one up to my existing pipes. Looks great wish I was that far ahead on my project.

Is this what your looking for? I was gonna go with the greddy my self but the angle is all wrong. I cut it out of a 14 gauge aluminum plate and 1/4" for the flange.

13b-rx3 great job on the build up look really good keep up posted.

The whole header flange thing has always driven me nuts. 13B-RX3, of course you're doing the right thing, but people always think header flanges can only be bought from RB. All you need is the hole spacing, two big holes for the exhaust port, and draw your own profile around it all. A local waterjet will make really short work of it, and a piece that small is usually cut from a piece of their scrap plate. Hell, put your initials where the RB goes just because you can.

If y'all are looking for custom sheetmetal for a dash, header flanges, or anything else flat, check the yellow pages for a waterjet. It's actually a cheap and fast way to go if you're cool with 'em.

Good looking work, 13B-RX3.

Thanks everyone. The elbow is far from the best work i have done. I bought three 1 1/2 (i think) 90 degree elbows and cut then up and welded them bach together to make the elbow. Then i cut the flange out from a peice of 3/8 plate.

i was just reading through this thread and you said that you wanted 550 to the wheels. lol that gt-42 is a bit of overkill dont you think? thats a 1000 horse turbo this project reminds me of mine but way more intense. youve done a VERY nice job with this. keep up the good work. i know a certain person on this forum who needs to do this to his rx-3

Thanks LILHEMI

Well actually i would be happy with 350 RWHP, hahaha. I plan on running this setup until i get use to the car then going through and doing a 1/2 bridge on the motor. My original goal was to be able to drive it to the strip about 70 miles from my house, go in the gate and straight to the staging lanes and lay down a mid 9. And hopefully drive it home. Before it is over though i hope for a streetable mid to low 8 sec car!

id be happy with a 10.999. you gonna drive it to the track on those e.t. streets or have some different tires to drive with? my car is mini tubbed and i have a 26X10.5X15 on there right now. i could fit a 12.5 but i cant find the right offset in draglites. id like to find an on center 9" rim but thats a no go. howds the body on that car? the fender to door gap looks a little weird in some pics you posted. the reason i ask is because ive been trying to get my buddy to do this for awhile but he thinks his body is too rough to make a real race car out of his rx3. (hint hint josh)

I think the ET-streets would work OK as long as it's not raining. The body is in a lot better shape now than it was when i got it. I picked it up out of a wrecking yard and someone had jumped in the roof caving it in. It had about five gallons of water in the bowl shaped roof and the back glass was broken out when i picked it up. The reason the body lines look funny is because i just set the fenders and front end on it to take the pics.

Oh and tell Josh the rougher the better. Your going to cut it up anyhow, right?

I dont want to tub my RX3 because the car has rust around the glass, not because the body is "rough". Maybe I am just stubborn. I really envy you though 13b-RX3. John (LilHemi) thinks I need to go EFI turbo like you as well, but I like the carb and nitrous. Its fun and I dont make a lot of money. One piece of advise though. Make sure your wiring is tip top, because it will haunt you if its not. I thought I did a good job, but I made some mistakes I had no idea I was making, and Ive been struggling with tuning for the last 8 months, only now am i addressing the electrical issue. Slow learner I guess. Good thing rotaries are easy to re-build because I've had to tear this thing apart 4 times now cuz I kept losing apex seals. Oh, and I no longer trust wide bands because my innovate box kept saying 9.20 A/F so I would lean her out and the apex seals would exit the party real quick.

Thanks for the advise. I have already done some rewiring because i didn't like the way it turned out the first time. Although i am capable of doing the tuning myself i am going to leave the tuning to the experts. Oh and you had to say innovate didn't you!

Thanks
Allen

Don't mean to hijack a thread, but can you tell me what the difference is between Mini Tubs, and regular tubbing? Did they not have to remove and relocate the frame rails or something?

Well after about 4 hours staring at my car and a few beers i decided to move the turbo so it would be easier to build my header. I moved it about one inch forward and three inches up. I started on the rear tube since it is the furthest away from the turbo. It will consist of two 90 degree bends with an overall length of 16". It will be a lot more difficult to fab the front tube because i am going to have to figure out how to fit a 16" tube in a 12" gap. I am going to tackle that tomorrow and will take some more pics.

I snapped a few shots of the elbow for you 13btnos.

It sure is. I thinks the 9" ford is too inefficient and a bit overkill for my application.

i think it is as well. usually ford 9 inch rears are for those high horsepower bigblock v8s. when i upgrade my fb rearend im putting the 8 3/4 and if i go solid axle in my fc ill use one (i have 2 of them, so thats not an issue) there is a guy in the low 9s with the 8 3/4 on here in an fc, good for rotary apps, because well rotaries dont have that axle bending torque.
