test fitting FC oil cooler. I plan on running two FC coolers

hmmm sneak peak.... im going to move my AC condenser to up front behind the FC oil cooler. then going to mount the IC recessed as deep as I can under the bar where hood latch is

if I need to later I will. but it seam to be ok. I have been thinking over the idea to install the FD brake and gas peddles too. Im going to build a brace from the cross member under the dash to the clutch peddle to make it a little more solid.

hose and fittings for oil lines is here.

pulled some wheels out of storage to test fit them on the front. Not sure if I like the gun metal. 17 X 9 +35 on the front with 255 tire. I normally run that offset on the rear of the FC. I think they would fit better if it was +40 or +45 the +35 pushes the wheel too far out for my liking.

I think I still like my old manaray's better the ones in the rear

Nice car and build. I was thinkin about trying to get a 20b cosmo to build up for drag racing. Mainly because for the true street class i can only run the engine that comes with the car, so a pp20b in a cosmo would work
and off to kill some supras ect. But what rear does it have in it? Are the axles and rear specific to the cosmo or can they swap with any other mazda? I would run a Fc trans like the swap you were doing. But in the US i just worrly about sourcing for driveline and suspension parts. Hell finding the car too lol.

Take a look at this Cosmo

Well almost done with mount, we should finish it tomorrow and the drive shaft. it is too bad the Cosmo drive shaft yoke is the wrong size fit FC trans. the length is just about perfect. we did need to trim the shifter hole just a little to get it to fit. Going to use die grinder to clean up the sharp edges.
also plan to build a sheet metal cover to make it cleaner and easier to seal
Makes me wonder if I had used a S6 trans where the shifter would have come out at.
the mount is not installed so Im holding up the trans during test fit.

the trans is being pushed up to the position to fad the mount. decided to test fit the sifter to see height. looks like going to need make some changes the area next to ebrake. I cant get in 5th or R it hits the side

And going to need use the hammer and adjust the passenger side of the trans tunnel for a little extra clearance. maybe that will help and let me move the shifter left just a little more.
Had a exh stud snap when taking off the old turbo and manifold.

picked up a set of stud removers. worked great.

my muffler arrived today and it fits very well. Just need to weld some mounting brackets on it so I can mount it. It is cat back for FD but it fits nicely. I tired it on both sides. it fit either one. but I think going to run it out of the drivers side. The pipe starts out at 3 inch at the flange then goes up to 4 inch. Im going to end up cutting off the flange installing vband flanges and clamps for all the exhaust.

started cleaning up the intercooler
Boarder Racing FD3S Monster
4.5 inches thick

sanding off the old over spray red paint and corrosion, when I have more time I will polish it up

Had this MazdaSpeed seat in storage for about 5 years. so lets dust it off and give it a test fit. it has a FC seat rail and almost bolts right up. I need to mod the rail a little and maybe lower the seat a little more

Well Sent my Haltech PS1000 back to upgrade to a PS2000 ( could be planning on a 20b swap later on. )
I got my Haltech from C. Ludwig on the forum. He said that haltech raised the prices but he is holding off the price up until the end of Nov. so if you thinking of going haltech might be time before the prices go up.
The trans mount should finish it tonight and maybe the drive shaft too.
things I am waiting on. off the top of my head......
turbo manifold
tial waste gate
3 inch SS bends to build DP and mid pipe
3 inch vbands for DP
3 inch pre muffler to go where the cat would be
apexi exh hanger that goes around the muffler so I can mount the FD exh
primary and secondary fuel rails, hose, fittings
FPR
pulsation damper
fuel pump supra tt
heat shielding for the trans tunnel and firewall
Things I need to get done
build a brackets to mount the FC oil cooler
build hose from the FD clutch master to the FC slave
oil feed line for turbo
oil return line
block off plates
build lines and install AP Racing Brake Bias Valve
find a AC shop that I can have them build new AC lines so I can move the condenser forward
I have not decided if I will go 1.5 or 2 way on the LSD. I have found a Kaaz 2 way for a FC. I'm 99% sure the LSD will fit in the Cosmo rear end.
LOL this is project is turning into more than just a 5 speed swap.

ok the mounts are installed. we ended up using rod ends from R32 skyline the bolts fit right in the stock fc mount. I didnt have any black paint handy so they got painted ultra flat camo brown LOL! I will get them painted black or powder coated black
after getting them made. I have different idea to make them next time.

turbo manifold is here. the waste gate pipe still hits the engine mount. I'm going to cut the pipe and reroute the waste gate to clear the mount. I have Tial Vband 44mm waste gate so i need to cut off the 4 bolt flange.

built a reinforcement bar from clutch to brake mount. it is welded on both sides but is a two piece that is held together with bolt so the clutch or brake could still be removed

build the clutch line today

How much does a Cosmo cost in Japan? (13b and 20b models) In equivalent dollars I mean.
I would love to buy one at some point with the aim of restoring it to as-new. I love GT cars, and I love rotary engines. Therefore, the Cosmo is essentially my favorite car in the world.

13B you can pick up nice one about 2500 ~ 5000
20B around 3500 ~ 20,000 depending on how nice it is
http://ucar.autos.yahoo.co.jp/search/MAS056/
but you can buy nice 13B body and swap in a 20B later
I had to buy both of my Cosmo's over the net. I could not find one local.I got one at a dealer auction and the 2nd one on Yahoo Auction

Awesome. Well in that 5 years, I should be out of college and making 'ok' money. Instead of going out and buying a new BMW like most post-graduates do, I'll just get me a Cosmo

if you wait and get one you wont be disappointed that is for sure.
anyway
well got call from mazda that some parts i ordered where ready for pick up.
I ordered
shifter return spring
shifter bushing
clutch bolts and lock washers
The FC transmission i picked up the return spring was broken. So while I had the trans out of the car I decided to change it and the bushing for the shifter.
It was my 1st time to change out a the spring and bushing. not very hard to do. took about 30 minutes. but now I know how to do it maybe 10 ~ 15 minutes. the hardest part was finding a punch the right size to push out the 2 pins

this black stuff is rubbery im not sure how it got in there. part of the spring is still there but I could not find the other part of the spring that broke off. lol where did it go?

old vs new

cleaned out and installed

yeah the tranny is greasy outside going to clean it up before I install it.

Well if you have made it this far in my posts you will know that I bought a Haltech PS1000 ECU for the car. never installed it. I desided to get the PS2000 ECU so in the chance I install a 20B into the car I would already have a an ECU that can control a 3 rotor.
Well a few weeks ago I shipped my PS1000 back and waited for the haltech dealer to ship me a PS2000. Went to the post office today and box was there. opened it up and look at the box

yup that say PS2000 on it

mmmm cant wait

wait what is this

something dont smell right. maybe my box was packed up before a big holiday in Australia or after a day and night and breakfast of Fosters Beer
The serial number on the box is for PS2000
the serial number on the ecu is the same. but the ecu says it is a PS1000

I shoot off a msg to haltech in au. they answer back in few minutes. ahhhh sorry about the label mate, but our records show that the SN for your ecu really is a PS2000.
so while im waiting to go home from work and plug the ecu to a PC power supply to look at the code. I'm dancing in around looking at my clock looking at my watch to see which one is faster so I can go home and test it.
so I get it home and hook it up my pc test bench and boot the haltech.

the haltech ecu manger software says......

So now WTF!!!! There is a Car show on the 18th im shooting for just 10 more days away. there is no way my car will be ready.
if I have to send this back to dealer and wait for them it going to push my car back an easy month
