well I had to do the Japanese government inspection. My Manaray wheels where too wide they said, so I put on a set of skyline wheel and passed no problems.

the pics are a little washed out it, the sun was really bright down near the seawall

the made me remove my gauges to pass inspection

their reasoning was if car was in accident the passenger would hit their head on the gauges. I said not if the passenger is wearing their seat belt. They said take them out. so I did and passed.

Well making progress on AT > 5 speed swap I had planned to pull the engine and trans out today. but will do that tomorrow.

I will be installing a haltech on the car so I wanted to get the old ecu out and I found a rats nest under the carpet.

just start saving your money up. 5 more years you can import them.

well got the engine and trans out today. 1st I tride to use a standard engine hoist, but the it was not long enough to reach the engine. lucky they had a hoist on a rail.

lol the same evil mazda engieer that built the ac bracket for the FC must have done it for the cosmo
that was the longest part took about hour. I really dread putting it back on. it is too damn hot here in Okinawa to not have a/c

I got a wicked fever so stopped working it after I got the engine out. I will go back tomorrow and take the AT off and put the engine on the stand for more clean up.

now that I can reach it easy might as well do a compression test on it

well had some time today to do a little on the project

test fitting the new turbo manifold and removed the vacuum spider

looks like the waste gate is going to hit engine mount. This manifold is for a FC. I might end up having to try one of those obx manifolds they looks like it would clear.

Just waiting on the Haltech, oil lines and fittings (going to install dual FC oil coolers). More updates as parts and work get done. Right now Okinawa is in the middle of a super typhoon.

well started working on installing the clutch peddle and clutch master today. I though I was going to a ninja today but got owned by the evil Mazda brake master engineers. I'm using the a FD clutch peddle and master. The FD clutch uses the brake master for a reservoir. So I though I would just swap out brake reservoirs and be all set. Well it does not fit on the Cosmo brake master.

FD master

Cosmo Master

FD reservoir does not fit on the Cosmo master

so I'm going to end up using brake reservoir from a bike until I can get a billet one made up. any CNC ninjas out there wanna make one for me? I would like to get tapped and threaded for 10mm 1.5 so I can run -4 AN fittings and hoses.

well got the clutch peddle and master installed today. I ended up using the reservoir from a FC clutch master

got the holes drilled for the FD clutch master

just need to build a bracket to mount the FC reservoir

test fit with engine installed whewwwwwwwww lots of room. I was worried that it would hit the LIM

test fitting an turbo manifold and using a junk exhaust housing as mock up. Need to cut the waste gate pipes and reroute them a little and build a down pipe. and need to get some better firewall insulation. the 20 year old factory one is falling apart.

installed the new flywheel

Goodbye AT shifter

Strange I swear I took of picture or 2 of the clutch peddle mounted. I will take some tomorrow. Everyone told me I would need to bend the brake peddle over to get it fit. but I didnt need to fit just like it was meant to be 5 speed.

Nice car and build. I was thinkin about trying to get a 20b cosmo to build up for drag racing. Mainly because for the true street class i can only run the engine that comes with the car, so a pp20b in a cosmo would work and off to kill some supras ect. But what rear does it have in it? Are the axles and rear specific to the cosmo or can they swap with any other mazda? I would run a Fc trans like the swap you were doing. But in the US i just worrly about sourcing for driveline and suspension parts. Hell finding the car too lol.
