Electric water pump for an '85 13b

I am building a Locost / Lotus 7 with a street port 85 13b
the cast iron stock water pump is really heavy.
I can make an aluminum housing for the water inlet and
outlet, temp sender and use an electric water pump.

Has anyone done this. There is a Mercedes 380SL
pump on ebay that should have the right flow rate. .
It would be wired to turn on with a temp sender
like a thermostat opening.

Any thoughts
Thanks
Rod

i run the second gen housing which is aluminum and a aluminum first gen pump. (i'm pretty sure the aluminum water pump was a old MFR part. Not sure.) But the aluminum pump i have is the only one i've ever seen.
Not sure why you'd wanna run an electric pump unless you're really concerned about power..
