I should have the new aluminum exhaust done tomorrow or Friday. Other than that, I've been working on the not-so-fun stuff like windows, grille, headlights, and other stuff like that. I did change the clutch pedal ratio, so the ACT single plate is much more liveable now. Before, it took the left foot of fury to press the damn thing!
GREAT WORKK... Love everything on it, I love muscle cars and love rotaries you did what i was thinking of doing in the future but 100 times better wow,, killer car even my wife liked it ,, that mean is the best,, VERY NICE

Just finished the exhaust. It's 4" aluminum, so it's pretty light. The wall thickness is a little heavier than I would have liked, but the only thinwall stuff I could find was from Burns, and I'll be damned if I'll pay that much for a mandrel bend! I had to shorten the downpipe by 3/4" to get everything tucked up nice and tight so I could use V-bands. I also made a turndown to clamp on the downpipe come track time to shed a few more pounds.

i didnt know that aluminum would stand up to that much heat. let me know how it goes. Im not trying to critize in anyway shape or form im just kinda nervous how much heat it will take.

It will eventually crack out for sure! The question is how long it will take. If this was a daily driven car, there's no way I'd even give it a shot, but on a car that will see less than 1000 miles per year, it's a fun experiment. The downpipe is still stainless, which should take the brunt of the abuse. I know of a number of turbo'd piston drag cars that even run an aluminum downpipe. Granted, the egts on a rotary are hotter..........
I'll be sure to post as soon as it cracks out.

Took the car out to get a little data log to do some driveability tuning yesterday. Once I pulled back in the driveway, I saw red and blue lights behind me. Not sure how long the police had been following me since the car doesn't have any rear view mirrors. Long story short, they could have given me about 1,425,898 tickets for everything from illegal turns to no registration, plates, inspection, brake lights........and the list goes on. They were pretty cool though and I didn't even get a formal warning. Looks like I'd better do a little more work to the car before the next outing!
I finally got to see this car in person and pictures do not do it justice!!!! The attention to detail absolutely blows my mind! Great job Nick, i cant wait to take a ride in it!

Well, I decided to change jobs and am in Houston now. We're building a new home and I don't have my tools down here yet, so progress has been slow. However, I did mange to switch from the 20 year old stock Cosmo TPS to a new one made for an early 90's Supra. The data logs show a much more stable, linear, and noise free TPS signal now, and driveability is much improved. This weekend, I spent some time tuning the car and got the driving tune pretty close to where I want it to be. I also started to ease into boost, and I've gotta say........this thing is going to haul ***! I'm limiting boost to wastegate pressure (1 bar) and haven't pulled it past 5000 rpm yet, but the car is seeing full boost on a 3rd gear pull by 4000 rpm, and it comes on like a freight train. The car feels very nimble and responsive while driving it. Seems like the weight savings stuff paid off. Other than that, I've just been doing more trim and molding stuff.
Cool!!!
That is bad ***!!! that is the first I have ever heard of that on a old Muscle cars, I do like those too.
I'm ready for some aluminum fuel cell mayham! You just let me know!

Amazing project! I am dissappointed that i read through this all today, I wish I had waited a bit longer so I could have seen the final results hahaha. Now I will be stuck having to watch this thread like a hawk.
Glad to hear it's all coming together Nick! You think it pulls hard now...wait till 6500-7000! That baby is going to roll your socks up and down! Give me a holler when you get a chance.
