Started getting really sick of hearing people tell me how stupid it was to put a tiny little engine in a "heavy muscle car". So, I ordered a set of Longcare computerscales, and the verdict is in.........2562 lbs. This is with 15 gallons of gas in the tank, and without me in the car. The weight will go up slightly as I have yet to add the front sway bar, passenger seat, running light wiring, and lexan driver and passenger windows. This weight is also with the "bling" wheels/tires, not the slicks and front runners. So, I think a reasonable drag race weight is around 2550-2575 lbs or so. Weight balance isn't bad either @ 52.8% front and 47.2% rear. The balance isn't quite rx7 good, but pretty damn good in muscle car land.
Now, if I can just hit the 600 whp target, this thing is going to be retarted!

You will always have haters voicing thier stupid opinions. The truth is that it takes ***** to do what you have done and its one of a kind. you did it and you shared it with everyone here. that's a job in itself. you put your heart and soul into this project. be proud of it no matter what.

People hate what they don't understand and they condemn what they fear most in themselves. I've been following this thread from the get go, so I imagine I shouldn't have to tell you to let it roll of your back. But still, I should say you've got a great thing going here and I envy your project for originality and craftsmanship.
Well, at 47 I'm a muscle car fan and an rx7 owner. I did the camden to my 7 so i could get some torque and enjoy what the FB has to offer. I would love an old bigblock muscle car, but not on my budget.

You have the best of both worlds!!! I like muscle cars as well as rotaries, Japanese imports for that matter, but who needs a big giant V8 motor with a blower to produce HP, if you can do it with a rotary, more power to you!!

I glanced at the title on the main page and though 'hmm, that might be interesting'. After reading through all 20 pages, I must say this is quite possibly the sickest thing I have ever seen. The fabrication quality is just astounding. I could almost
to the pics of that manifold. Hats off to you my friend for doing something most of us could only dream of.

The only slightly negative thing I have to say, is that it seems strange to have that rotary sound coming from a Chevy Nova, when I keep thinking there was a V8 in it. If you know what I mean. But other then that weird feeling this build FKN ROCKS!!!!

Went to the dyno today to see what the car would put down. Started off at 17 psi, and was pretty dissapointed with 376 whp. Air fuel was really rich at about 10.0, so we leaned it out about 1/2 a point to 10.5 or so. Power jumped up to 395 whp.
Next we bumped the boost up to 21 psi and ended up with 457 whp. Air fuel was still a little rich at about 11.0. I think there is still another 30-40 hp in the tune without cranking up the boost, but with my next-to-zero experience in tuning rotaries, I'm reluctant to lean it out further and play with the timing. It's time for someone with some experience to get their hands on this thing.
I was very happy with the results until I poked around the forum to see if my results were about par, and I saw a number of posts where people are claiming 600 whp at 20 psi! Nevertheless, it was a good day without a BOOM!
The dyno was having problems picking up the spark, so unfortunately the graph is in mph. All pulls were upto 8000 rpm. It looks like I'll need to swap gears for a 4.10 or find some 31" slicks or I'm going to run out of RPM top end at the track. Their air fuel was kind of flakey too, so I tend to believe the wideband trend from the Haltech. On all but two of the runs, the dyno's air fuel read a constant 14.7 afr?!
Next, I think I'll do a boost leak check and look for a tuner.

You'll get there man, I am sure with some tinkering you can or take it somewhere else just to see.
Dude. Your finally getting there. But your right. At 20 psi, you should be around the 550-600 rwhp range. Keeping a consistant 12.5ish afr under boost would net you alot better results. I am putting a little over 400 rwhp at 15psi. The highest my AFRs get under boost is in the high 12s. Guys like Steve Khan make their most HP pushing in the high 13s. High 13s kinda scare me though.
Congrats on not blowing up the engine. Like what other people have said, with an experienced tuner you should get alot more power. You're still way rich at 10.5.
