Rest in peace Rob. I'm glad I've had the pleasure to meet you a couple times. Thank you for your many years of rotary service and knowledge. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
I did not personally know him either, but knew of him. I have friends who have nothing but praise for him, same as all the posters here. God Speed Rob, may the Rotary gods be with you now and evermore.
Sad to hear the news about Rob's passing and closure of Pineapple. I have purchased from them before and have always heard good things about their work. Hoping that the new parts business owners have success. These days in the rotary community every good and honest shop is extremely valuable. I know Atkins can get a bad rap sometimes, but they do supply a lot of parts that are hard to come by. My fear is that one day there won't be enough of the younger generations keeping these places going.
One of our local guys at 7s day yesterday said he had bought a stud kit from Pineapple some months back and never got them. He didn't know of Rob's passing, but he said he emailed the new address on the site, and I've emailed it myself about something, but neither of us has gotten a response. Is there another way we can reach the new owners?
Hi All, just today the new operators of the parts business successfully shut down the store. Their new store is under construction. You can find them @sr_rotary_performance on instagram in the mean time.
With this, I am stepping down from any Pineapple Racing duties, as the physical shop has officially closed and the keys have been returned. Shortly after Rob's passing, my grandmother passed. I am now focused on my family and it will require my full attention for some time. There are two shipments still to be sent out next week, closing out the final two engine projects Rob had. I apologize for the delay for those two owners, but life seems to find new ways to get in the way.
Thank you all for the kind words, support, and memories of Rob.
We are actively organizing a Celebration of Life for Rob, in Portland Oregon this August. I will post once we have more details for those who want to attend.
Id go with another name. We already have "Rotary Performance" and "SR Motorsports", both of which are focused on rotaries for decades. Pick something fresh and not confusing.
Just look at the mess caused by Mike Quinn's usage of "RPM (rotor piston Motorsports)", now defunct, which now gets confused with a legit and quality non rotary business "RPM Motorsport" who has probably lost business as a result.
Rest In peace Rob. I met him a few times back in the 80s/90s at various RX7 and car events. The events would set up a seminar type of talk with him with Q&A. He was very knowledgeable about everything rotary. He built my motor back in 2010 and it is still running strong. My deepest sympathy goes out to Rob's family and friends.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who attended Rob's celebration of life.
It was a fantastic showing, with friends coming far and wide to share their memories and stories.
Rob was an amazing person, one I am not sure we will ever be able to replace.
We're working on digitizing and sharing his photos in hopes some of the owners will find them. Once we have them online I'll share a link here.
