The welds are cleaned up using this airtool that chips away at the slage, makes quick work of it.

This grinder with a sanding wheel really preps the surface for a strong weld and removes metal efficiently. We removed the driver's door for this purpose.

I brought the Shine auto project Feed fenders over to see how they fit and work with the new hinges. Some trimming will be required to clear the shocks. Should work fine and the doors clear them with plenty of room to spare. I also took the time to tape some quarters on the door where I want the leds to be mounted. A little more room to weld the door while it's off also.

Some more of the doors. It will take some getting used to, opening and closing plus seeing them up.

Gary and I took the time to make sure that everything lined back up when the doors were shut.

Here's a shot of the ECU that I'm running. I think we made some progress in the two days we've spent on the doors so far. After the leds and redoing the door wiring, the V-mount I/C should be the next project until the turbos show up. I haven't got a clue how long it will take to get everything done to be able to drive the car again, but I'm in no hurry. I realize lambo doors aren't everyones cup of tea, but for those who want them, I hope the pics that I've provided help you guys out. I recommend GT Factory 100% And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. -Matt

Thanks, Rich
So far, we've been collecting parts, polishing them and killing a couple of saturdays on the doors. Still waiting for TiAL to release us some turbos or housings so we can mock up the dual set-up manifold. We're thinking about getting the V-mount roughed in also before the motor comes out. And of course the fuel system installed. The plan is to send the motor and turbos out to be rebuilt and dyno'ed together before it goes back in. New paint in in the plans while that takes place. Picked up a new spoiler this week, I'll keep it a surprise until I recieve it. Then I'll post pics. Keep checkin in!

I imagine you will have a better angle of entry for the second turbo outlet into the intercooler.

I've played around with the idea of running the turbo outlets down and going straight into the i/c horizontally. Instead of 90 deg elbows, 45's if I have the room. I love the Apexi intakes and I want to make them part of the build somehow. I'm going to start on the v-mount after the door wiring.

I just picked up a JL audio 10w7 sub for the hatch, I'm going with their 500/1 amp to supply it. I'll be constructing a ported enclosure and amp rack after I pick up the the door speakers, wires and the amp for those. Got some cool ideas planned to showcase everything. For now still accumulating parts and polishing.

Something I've been considering doing- is surrounding the subwoofer with a rotor constructed out of plexiglass/ acrylic. I'd like to make it as detailed as possible. The plan is to illuminate it with leds (hidden of course) and mirror tint the plexi to give it a metallic look. On the 10w7 sub's cone I'm planning on painting the gear teeth and eccentric shaft details. Here's where you guys can help, I'm a decent artist but with computers these days I can be more precise. I need a blueprint/ drawing of a rotor as accurate as possible. I'll scale it up to fit the sub. Next, any suggestions on manufacturing the rotor would be helpfull. I might make it about an inch thick, and engrave the seal slots and such to a 1/4". Is this a job for a machinist with a cnc machine? Just checking out my options. Thanks, my e-mail is matt.hallgren@gmail.com if you have a rotor pic to send.

Well if you want the accuracy, then yes machining would be ideal. Know of anyone who has access to a CAD program, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Pro-E? And possibly a plotter? If you want a machinist to do it and he has a CNC you can create your desired design in CAD, convert to a format his CNC can read and BAM! you have a perfect piece that's 3D. Or you can do a sand blast etch.

I might have a machinist tackle this project, sounds like the best route. You've got quite the build going on, I hope mine is as good as yours. Keep up the good work, I've been checking out your thread for ideas. -Matt

You do the same.

Question, so with the scissor doors how are you going to do the wiring loop such that it won't get in the way of the hinge mechanism or anything else? Are you going to relocate the electrical plug juncture closer the new pivot point and route the harness back into the firewall?

The location of the female plug mounted on the fender will have to be moved forward to clear the hinge and the lengthened wire loom will be attached to the underside of the curved hinge bracket then straight into the door. I'm problebly going with a braided stainless or kevlar conduit. It will look clean. I'll have to add in the new speaker and led wires as well. Keeping a plug on the fender makes perfect sense for removing the doors at a later point.

Here's some more pics. My old battery relocation, I've upgraded the battery to a Kinetik 2000 and redesigned the cover. The distribution block will be moved to the amp rack. Also installed a battery disconect in the other bin.

Here's another setup I'm barrowing ideas from. When we get all the parts and mock up the turbo setup, we'll get the motor pulled. I'm having Daryl Drummond build the motor and dyno it out of the car with the turbo setup on it. Some good news; Gary got info from TiAL that they'll be manufacturing the gt30's next month. I'm anxious to get the ball rolling on this part of the build. I also should be recieving from Aerofiber, a Feed adjustable spoiler in twin weave carbon fiber to match my Feed hood and side skirts. I'll post pics when it arrives.

I recieved my replica Feed adjustable spoiler from Aerofiber this week. I haven't had time to take pics, so here's some borrowed ones for now. I have the twin weave deck to match the other exterior carbon pieces. One of these days I'll try to spend some time working on the car instead of overtime at work. 16hr days suck!

Still waiting on parts, so not too much to report. I should be free next week to work with Gary on the car. Try to finish up on the doors, welding wise. Get the leds installed on them and relocate/ lengthen the wiring. I'll add new speaker wire in as well. I'm thinking of MB Quart's (mids and tweets). I'll get some better pics of the rotors and the NRS 3mm grey ceramic seals/ springs also.
