Wait a sec.... you're saying that the only reason you ended up in the far lane was because the car slid into it? Sounds to me as if you were fortunate. If he noticed that you had lost control of your car, he could have cited you for reckless driving (or whatever the legal definition is). Good thing he just thought you meant to go into the far lane.

I trust my car ability to cruise all day (at least while the gas lasted) at 100+mph. I personally have checked all suspension components many times and trust the person who built it, it has never been wrecked and has hardly any rust and none of the key peices. Now the actual ammont of time I drive 100+ is rare and not for very long, but I will say the car is stable at 6k in 5th gear on the short burst I have given it.
I wouldn't call it "dumb" at all. Just maybe the normal sense of invulnerability of youth. I am confident in my FD at 100mph on good surfaces. I get very nervous above that. But then I'm a guy that always places a second set of safety jack stands before I get under the car.

You don't have to be young to be stupid however. Did you guys see this about the guy that recorded himself riding his motorcycle at 164mph on I-5?

haha yeah i was just pissed i got a ticket i was pretty happy because i thought thats what i got pulled over for, it probably looked like i was trying to drift it from the way it happened. the officer was pretty cool though he gave me a warning on my speed because i guess it was a 35mph zone and he had to do 60-65 to catch up to me after i was on the straight away lol

It happened to me...

Well, I got my first ticket in years on Sunday as I was driving to Packwood for the Autocross event. I was driving over the speed limit but was trying to take it easy. It was about 6:30am on Sunday so there was no traffice on Highway 7. I did see a white sedan way ahead in the distance and I didn't think much about it and I was steadily gaining on it. I wasn't able to see that it was a WSP car. He did notice my headlights gradualy gaining on him however. He went over a rise about 3/4 of a mile ahead of me and disapeared. He then did a U-turn and set up just on the other side of this small hill. He got me with the Radar going 67 as I crested the hill.

As soon as I saw him I realized what had happened and just pulled over before he even had his lights on or started to do another U-turn. (sigh) I was hoping I would get lucky seeing as the road was empty, I wasn't going an unsafe speed, and I'm impecably polite. No such luck. He wrote me up for 67 in a 55.

The funny part was that shortly after that stretch of road, there was some slush in the road. I drove very slowly on those roads and so was doing 40-45 in a 55 with him on my tail for several miles.

I was going cruising a very empty Highway 2 at around 75 to 80, long and straight. I saw a crown Vic at a turnout, and thought I was going to get it, and slowed way down to 60. It was an elderly lady about 75. Damn CROWN VICS!

when i got my subaru which was my 1st car, i actually tried racing a undercover cop. he rode up in my blind spot and sat there. so i sped up and he did too, i look over my shoulder and see a blue hood, a white guy staring at me and bars in the rear window.... thats when i went "****, im doing 75" he pulled me over and asked why i was doing 75, i told him i thought he was trying to race me.
he laughed a little, gave me a "stupid kid" look and gave me a WRITTEN WARNING! i was so danmed shocked!
then he asked what precinct i was with. i had comepletly forgotten that i was wear a portland police cadet sweatshirt ( its like the boy scouts for ppl who want to become cops). i was F'd, his brother worked at the precinct where i was....next training day we practiced using a tazer...i got shot, those suck *** by the way.

thats my 1st story..

Twice, king county sheriffs have pulled me over for stupid reasons. once was because he said a car like mine was stolen. i asked him if he ran my plates before pulling me over and he said yes (i knew he would). so i asked why he still pulled me over and he repeated that a car like mine was stolen earlier...

another time, i pulled up to a stop sign, stopped and noticed a car creeping up from the left. i saw the cattle pusher sticking out, so i stayed stoped to let the cop pass. they didn't. they stopped in the middle of the road, blocking traffic. I pulled out, and got pulled over 100 feet down the road. the cop asked, "how's it goin?"
i replied, "not too bad sir"
"well first of all im a ma'am" "secondly, i pulled you over to ask you why you didn't stop at the stop sign" I called her bluff and she let me go. manliest woman Ive heard ( i couldn't see **** with the flashlight in my face).

one day i was leaving my house to go to work at high traffic hour. I couldnt leave my neighborhood because over constant car flow. i finally saw an opening and gunned it to get out. As i started to crest the hill down the street my radar detector/jammer went crazy so i slowed down. Saw the lights flick on so pulled over. The cop after giving me the normal talk said your lucky this time that my radar wasn't working and i couldn't get a solid reading because it sounded like you were going really fast, so i played dumb and got a warning.

A week before i got pulled over for speeding and the cop said nice radar detector, forgot to take it off, how did you get pulled over and i said i didnt think i was speeding and he let me go with warning.
