Got pulled over the other night

So i was heading home from my girlfriends house on sunday night and pulled on to a bypass road to get back to my house. Never a lot of traffic, but about half way down i notice a car coming up on my ***. with a about a mile left he gets close enough to tell its a police officer reading my plates. So i slip on my racing harness (i know bad habit). and continue driving normally. i wasn't speeding or anything so i was intrigued to see what he was going to pull me over for.

So after i pull onto the next road, he flips on the overheads, i pull over.

so he goes through the normal speel, and handing him my registration, i say, "this is the registration for the new plates that they haven't sent yet."
"Do you have the plates?"
"No they haven't sent them."
"They send them with the plates."
"no, they don't, they sent me a new temp instead"
"so do you have the plates?"
"no"

this is the kinda conversation that makes you question wether they care to actually listen or not...

So he says that he heard me come onto the road and it sounded like i was doing 5-10 mph over the speed limit... but he's going to let me go this time LOL

But as he's walking away he says, "Your car draws a lot of attention to itself, and there is a place for racing. Your car is obviously built to be fast, or at least look like its fast, you better be going the speed limit cause you're going to be pulled over"

Wow, kick to the nuts, but i figure its best to just let him assume its all show...

Problably did you a favor.....it's good to get a free reminder to not to get to heavy on the pedal, better then it costing you a speeding ticket.
I've been stopped 3-4 times for nothing then just "looking" fast and it always kept my decision making clear when that snot nosed kid in the Honda comes up and wants to race on my way home from work at 11pm....

ughhh... I'm getting really leery about cops..
sounds threatening that "you're going to be pulled over"..

~_~ freakn stupid.. esp. the comment about you "sounding over the speed limit"

[anyone see the video on youtube of the cop who freaked out and was shoving a 14yr kid around for no reason?]
I'm wondering if we're going to have to push that right to bear arms thing to protect ourselves from being "Protected and SERVED"
:P

actually i was being fairly light on the pedal, i was tired and the car wasn't quite to running temp so i wouldn't have been pushing it... maybe it was just the gentle hum of my rotary that threw his ear calibration off

lol..

"I'd like the officer to show the court his records for his ear's /speed/ calibration"
"Uh....... They're.... Confidential..?"

I wonder if maximum terms for being a police officer in a given state would help them to be less psycho overall.. Hmm..

Haha Portland cops don't even take notice of my car. Everytime I pass one I look straight at the cop and they aren't even looking back.

I get that down here in Corvallis too. Cops don't even really look at my car, which is weird because Corvallis cops can be terrible.

man, that really sucks. some cops are douches. btw, tim have cops ever waved to you? its kinda weird, i'm always afraid when i'm driving by or near cops their gonna pull me over for the HKS pipes, or the turbo spoolin (i don't speed near cops or on well traveled roads) but most of the time, they pull up next to me, and wave.
also, when we had an early 7 drive last summer, grae was less than 2 car lengths infront of me, gets pulled over by a cop for not having a front license plate....i pull over when grae gets pulled over, cop looks over at me (i don't even have holes drilled into the front bumper for the plate) doesn't even care....
luck of the third gen? or am i just lucky?

Cut them some slack...

I've got some friends who are Tacoma Police Officers and know a number of Pierce County Sheriff deputies. The ones I know are great folks who genuinely are trying to do a difficult job well. I don't have trouble with cops. I've gotten pulled over a number of times over the years and been given my share of tickets. There was only once in all those years that I got a ticket that I thought was bogus.

I've only been pulled over once in my FD. I was doing 10-15 over the limit outside a small town in Oklahoma. I had NO plates on the car at all, had no registration, the depute was unable to verify by WA state license, and he still let go without a ticket. Maybe it just helps being an old fart?

Yeah I know those Honda Kids.....Always when your traveling down main street at like 11. My car doesn't even have so much as a wing or nice wheels, yet they always come up and expect me to run em. I'll admit sometimes I do wanna race them, but then again insurance rates tell me no.
