Wheel fitment issues

I bought my first FD about a year ago. I'm having wheel fitment issues. When I got it I thought the tires were to thick they were 225 R18 they would rub the front end of the fender eventually destroying the plastc. So I bumped them down to a 215 and it fits. But I started to meet more FD guys and they are fitting 245 R18. I'm not very familiar with wheel offsets and suspension setting and such. The car is also lowered on HKS coils put on buy the previous owner in Japan.

A lowered car complicates things and you didn’t mention what your tire’s aspect ratio (sidewall width) was. You also need to find out what your current wheel width and off-set are and educate yourself.....

Fitment

I tried replying in the official fitment thread but it only lets me post in "new member" areas. I have read the entire fitment thread probably twice. A ton of great info. I have 18x8.5 +38 and 9.5 +38 wheels, lowered on Megan coils. I swear I haven't seen anyone run a 225/40 255/35 combo exactly. A track shop will be setting the camber and minor rolls if needed. I rarely drive the car and if I do it is to joy ride around, no racing, tracking etc. This should be a fine fitment correct? Or do I need a little stretch or lower aspect ratio?
Thank you.
Kyle

Assuming the car is an FD... You're giving up some room between fender and tire with the +38 offsets. Ideal is +45 or +50.

With a 225 up front you should be good with decent negative camber and maybe a minor roll for insurance. It also depends on the specific tire. Some brands and sizes run wide.

It'll look good sitting, but it's hitting bumps with the wheel turned that will pull your front fender lip. That and rubbing the fender liner due to tire height.

The 225 40 18 is a little taller than the target 25", but not terrible at 25.1".

Thanks. Man still made the noob mistake and didn't put FD. I see suggestions of 245 35 a lot, I know it sits a little shorter overall but the width worried me. Put that with a 285 30 but that will b mushrooming a bit on the 9.5. I'll call Texas Track Works and see if they suggest a tire brand and see how much roll they think they'll need. Thanks!
