The stock tires are 225/50-16, you can do comparisons between the stock size and other sizes on this cool page from the Miata folks:

Cool Resource for offset, tire size, determinations

Visit this website for learning how to calculate offset, backspacing, bolt circle, tire size, and overall diameter. These questions come up often, and this site has excellent information laid out in an organized fashion.

See my site, and go to: Upgrades --> Wheels & Tires --> Will These Wheels Fit My Car.

There are a ton of variables involved like worn-out/mushy springs, lowering, etc., so take the info there as a starting point for your research.

Cheers,

Steve

Think there's an error in the 1010tires.com site for the 'revs per mile' calculation. Checked the math and the Miata site is correct.

Exclamation Stop PM'ing me for wheel offset advice

There are plenty of resources and info on this thread, and on this forum to get the info you need.

If you PM me for advice anyway, I will not reply.

Thanks!

FD Rx7 Wheel/Tire Fitment Conultations

Ok, I guess I was bit harsh with the above post. I apologize. I'm weary giving away free advice on the forum. I've already posted tons if accurate info--you just have to take the time to find it!

Now if you've searched the forum, and don't feel you've got an acceptable answer, I'm available as an independent consultant for helping you put together the best wheel/tire fitment for your FD Rx7.

With many wheel vendors discounting wheels, you lose the additional service from the wheel vendor, which is--providing you with proper fitment information--in exchange for rock-bottom pricing.

Let me know what your needs are, and I'll put together a formal recommendation which includes calculations and caveats (things to be aware of with the fitment--assuming we're putting together a max width fitment).

For the most accurate info, you'll need to provide me with your suspension info which includes any mods you've made, body work info, alignment settings etc.

I can provide no guarantees on my fitment recommendation, since each FD Rx7 may vary slightly (assuming we're doing a max width fitment).

Fee is $250. This is about 10% of what high-quality wheels usually cost at a hefty discount. This is a fair price considering ill-fitting discounted wheels/tires for your FD Rx7 are useless, and you'll probably lose more than $250, when trying to unload them on Ebay. Or--looking at this from the brighter side--think of how happy you'll be with proper-fitting max width fitment, discounted wheels/tires on your FD Rx7

I have no direct experience with FC Rx7, so I'd need to take measurements. B/C this is a problem with internet consulting, I'm restricting my service to FD Rx7s only (I have direct experience with that model).

PM me ONLY if you're serious about needing an FD Rx7 fitment consultant.

Of course the information contained in this forum is free, but you'll need to spend some time mining for it!

To the admins/mods who might stumble upon this post--if you feel this is advertising, then feel free to delete this. I'm just trying to figure out a way for people to stop PM'ing for free FD Rx7 wheel/tire advice. The $250 fee will eliminate 99% of my PMs LOL

Sincerely

if you click on the link i have attached below and then click in your tire size you will see a listing on all the tire the tire rack carries in the specified size. If you click on the manufacturer you are looking for and then click go you will see all of the tires the specified manufacturer makes in that size. above each listing you will see several headers. one of them is "Specs". if you click on this you will be able to see all of the dimension specs for the chosen tire includeing rim mounting ranges and mounted dimensions.

I had created this thread well over a year ago with the hopes of putting together a sick staggered effect using Konig Imagines on my FC. ie. using 17" up front and 18" to the rear. This will allow you to get an 18,8 or 8.5 in the rear and the 7" will be fine up front. Then running 215/45/17's and 235/40/18's.

Although It didn't go through (mostly due to being a 5 star guy at heart) It's nice to see that something came out of It. Good links guys...I had forgot about this thread as I haven't been on this Forum since I started this thread.

SleepR1, just setting the record straight - It's not me PMing you breaking them.

I wanted to post this tire sizing calculator because it was very easy to understand and use, ( for those of us who are challenged in this area. )

It shows exactly what is changing on your tire, and how it will affect your speedo. Pretty cool!
