WEBER 48 IDA and TURBO

I have a 48 IDA Weber from Racing Beat, I am thinking to go turbo, (boost in to the carburetor, 5 to 7psi). I would like to know what needs to be done for that particular carburetor, to work with turbo. I was trying to find some info about this but couldn't, maybe I wasn't looking in the right place!

Does anyone know anything about on how to mod IDA Weber to work with turbo?

Just a quick search for "boost prep weber" will turn up all the info you need:

Those should get you started. A general Google search for "boost prepping weber IDA" will help as well, because the information is not rotary specific.

EFI, as always, is superior and the best choice.

So, for converting an IDA Weber carburetor to work with boost/ turbo need to be done/add :
- carburetor "HAT",
- boost compensating fuel pressure regulator (for carburetors),
- solid float,
- seal the throttle pin (and other areas where the boost/air may leaks to the atmosphere),

So this is my research so far. Am I missing something or this is it ??

Yep, that sounds complete to me. It's been a while since I've messed with any carb stuff but off the top of my head, that's what's required.

If this is for your engine with the semi-peripheral ports, I strongly urge you to go with EFI instead. First, that carb is too small. Second, you NEED the fine fuel and timing control that EFI gives you.

Yeah, I am thinking about it. Maybe it is better to just go on and get the EFI system. This carburetor boost prep will probably cost around the same price. So yeah! I don't think it is worth doing it.
