transmission stuck in reverse, shifter in neutral? please help...
Ok so I bought a 1990 rx7 vert a couple days ago an it was fin unroll today it had trouble getting into reverse felt like a brick wall, PO Installed a corksport short shifter so I figured he screwed it up.... anyway just got home parks it in what I thought was neutral and bam it stalls I'm like what the f,
so I try again but easing of clutch like in gear and it moves in reverse with shifter in what feels like neutral I can still grab what feels like 1st and 2nd no other gear but it does nothing but slowly stall when I let of the clutch....... so I took shifter apart see in if I can spot hi mistake and I can't put it back together Same thing no better
Here are some pics of shifter assembly let me know if anything look wrong because I have no clue
Hopefully I don't need a rebuild if I do I'm going to look for a used trajectory just go ripp off paying 1900$ tough for this car but I felt fine that day so old what to do
Does the paper clip looking thing seem out of place?
Thanks for anyone's help in advance..

Looks fine, but you may want to put a dab of grease or a touch of gear oil in there to keep things lubed up.(MAZDATRIX for Mazda RX7, RX8, Rotary Engine Parts and Accessories ..short shifter video)
That 'paper clip thing" is the shifter return spring.
It holds the lower ball of the shifter in that little "cue chalk block".It also returns the shifter to Neutral middle position.

Anyone in myrtle beach willing to help a new rx7 owner?? Can't seem to find anything to fit in reverse light switch hole to pop reverse shaft towards rear of car and don't want to take it some where because everywhere I called even A Mazda specialist who has seen this before said they would take the gearbox out and replace this ...and ..that basically a full rebuild they just didn't want to say it but even with a rebuild it seems it does not stop this problem just a bad design not having a lock out on that shaft I guess......
