T2 Swap Questions
I have the opportunity to get a T2 swap for my RX-7. The swap would come with everything except the ECU, MAF, and Harness. The guy I'm getting it from says that the NA harness will work but you have to wire in a Knock sensor. I'm not too sure about this, so what do you guys think.
2nd Question, is there any way to use a NA ECU and have it "relearned" or "reprogrammed" to run the T2 settings, or I have even heard of piggybacking the ECU, is this normal for a car like this, or would it be better to go to an aftermarket ECU. This is new to me also, so any good help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You would need the TII ECU or a standalone. Based on the fact that you aren't getting most of the required EFI parts, it sounds like a perfect job for a standalone.

ok, thanks. I know that I'm getting the injectors, turbo and everything except what was listed above. So with the standalone, would I need the TII MAF? Or could I use the NA MAF? I'm just really trying to figure out if this is a good deal. He wants $500 for the TII engine, tranny, 2 spare NA trannies, a NA engine setup, and a locking diff. What does everyone think?

i would go with a microtech standalone ecu, comes with a pre-loaded map to get the vehicle started, doesn't need a maf sensor. it uses stock connectors(you have to cut connectors and solder them to the corresponding place on the harness) so most of the n/a harness connector should work.

I've been seeing on the FS threads, but I'm just wondering what are the N351 ECU's and other ones with the numbers like that. Are they just different stock ECU's that are available. And besides Microtech, what are some of the best standalone ECU's

Ya they are the stock numbers for the ecu's like N351 and N374. I did a swap to mine and i extremely recommend a Microtech. They are not that expensive and take a couple hours to install because every wire has a little tag on it that tells u where everything goes. Haltech is a nice standalone but i would just go with a microtech.
And as for $500 for the swap. JESUS dude even if u dont use it u could buy it and sell it for a G.

Word. I would keep an eye out in the fs section for a used stand alone with harness. It will give you plenty of room to upgrade your engine in the future or just to get everything out of the stock setup you can.

There is no best standalone. Each one has it's own advantages and disadvantages.
For example, while the Microtech is almost immune to ignition noise, it does not support the following which every other ECU does:
-closed loop
-ability to save maps to disk
-3D timing tables
And there are a few others. But while the Haltech does support all those features, it is more prone to noise then many other ECUs.

Yessir i agree. I didnt mean to sound like microtech is the best in general, i meant the best for me. I do wish maps could be saved to a cd tho 
Another advantage is room for upgrades like Ncfc3s said, I went from a stock port stock turbo to Half-bridge port and a gt40 and only had to get a tune.
