Smoking Under Boost???

Need help distinguishing the problem...
Motor was built & lueprinted by xs engineering and has about 4k of break in miles with the effinity twin turbo setup...
newly installed turbonetics t66 ball bearing single turbo with newgen wastegate with a oil restrictor and a Decent -10 steel braided oil return "drops straight down to a 90 degree fitting and then straight"...

no smoke on idle or cruising up to 6k...
but under boost blue smoke comes out after 10 seconds or so...

....havent checked the pcv
....oil needs to be changed
....only drove 2 miles since dumping the last batch of oil into the exhaust that is 3.5 with a high flow cat since i forgot to put an oil feed restrictor in which reduced the smoke alot...
....not sure if the omp could be a factor... ONLY if there could b lines not connected that could make a difference that I may have disconnected durning the single setup conversion?
...also not sure what the thing on the side of the motor off of the intake manifold is that has a shield around it and is made of porcelain and if it is important cuz my friend broke it... I forgot what its called, but its like$160 from mazda...
...havent cheched the plugs or the compression yet...

open to all suggestions..thanks

Oil Return

[IMG][/IMG]

Here is a pic of the oil return...
its drops 4" at a 45 deg. angle toward the passenger side wheel into a 90 deg. fitting and then goes at an angle to the stock return...

Does this seem like the culprit or would my pcv not being hooked up to the intake be more reasonable since it has a check valve and there is no vacuum hooked up to it through the intake???

Sound like your definitely burning oil. how new is that turbo? does it have any shaft play? side to side or back and fourth? That oil line looks pinched a little, but that wouldnt cause that, that would make your turbo over heat like nothing else. im not sure what that thing is that your friend broke, if you can put some pics. but first thing check the shaft play on the turbo....

I know its not the turbo because I just took it off my supra a couple of days ago and everying checked before I installed it on the rx7...there is no shaft play or anything...
However I know 4 a fact that I don'y have the pcv hooked up 2 the intake ..
I should probably try fixing that ....
You think that little pinch will b ok?

I think that pinch might be causing the problem. If it is the return line then the oil might be getting backed up in the turbo at higher boost and there for the turbo would burn it off. that would also explain it running good at low boost. but fix the pcv and the part that your friend broke first those could also be major factors. one time when I over filled my t2 with oil it burnt off when I would give it a bit of boost.

On my probe turbo, i had a simalar issue and it did indeed turn out to be the oil return being kinked as shown above. Corrected it and problem solved...

I think it was as stated above, that the kinked oil return let the oil build up and cause leakage through the seals...

Could also be running lean. You will blow white smoke out if your engine AFR's are too lean. Something to think about aswell.

But you said the smoke is blue, so i would maybe check the OMP's like you stated, or double check that your seals are good in your Turbo.

Fixed....

Checked the pcv and found that it was not working at all ....
Also using an oil restrictor fixed most of the smoke
so that and fixing the oil return has fixed the problem

THANKS Everyone for all the input....
