Rx-3 intake manifold questions

I am reading though a lot of posts from @Jeff20B and @t_g_farrell about modifying a stock Nikki, and they mention that a Rx-3 intake manifold is the best. Was there a stated specific reason for this?

I have a 1983 FB GSL and it has the RB Holley carb, intake, and exhaust system setup on it. My center iron has a tall port on it.

Has anyone experimented with using a modified Nikki and the RB intake manifold?

i know Jeff did some pretty extensive work with these things and was pretty good at recording data points, so it's probably just a matter of it flows better than the other 12A manifolds.

i can't think of anyone that used a Nikki on a Holley manifold, but here's a thread that includes some thoughts from a legendary former member (Rx7Carl). it may provide you with some insights: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...-nikki-393887/

I never said that, but if Jeff did, I'm sure he has good reasons. Using the Holley manifold would be a waste of time. Get a 12a manifold and use it with the nikki, they go together well.

the how to modify your Rx7 book has a pic of a holley on a stock manifold (or is it a Nikki on a holley manifold?),
but if it was better, we would be doing it

someone made an adapter for the Holley to fit the stock manifold back in the day. i do not know which company it was, but one of my friend's had one on his Rx-7. back then, i had also seen a handful of them in addition to his.

The Rx3's just had less garbage to remove and some had reverse runners depending on the years.... What is wrong with your Holley setup?
You can adapt it both ways but I see no reason to do it. The Holley can be tuned to run very well and so can the Nikki. The holley will perform better in my opinion when set up correctly but good power can be achieved with a Nikki.
Tell us the issue and we can better help with a solution.
