A j-spec engine is a junkyard engine from Japan. Typically they have low mileage. But there's no guarantee that they do.

Perform a compression test to get a general idea about the condition of the engine internally. If the engine is in good shape, then you don't really need to build it for the 350HP power level. At 400HP, I'd say to build it with a street port.

For 350HP to 400HP, get use a GT35R or similar sized turbo (60-1, etc.). 35R would be my choice. Use the large T3 hot side (1.06) or the available T4 hot side (I think from A-spec, I forget the exact size).

RTek or S-AFC won't do it. You need a full standalone.

a stand alone is a complete engine management system like haltech, microtech, etc. if u don't have or want to put thousands of dollars in it then forget the 350 to 400 hp goal.

yah, there really isn't an inexpensive way to do what you want. Stick with small gains if you want to keep a minimal budget as you should expect probably an extra $3-4K with standalone and tuning on top of whatever turbo and extra's you buy...

Or even better, ditch all the old wiring and stock ECU legacy junk and got with a proper full standalone. I just realized you are looking at 350HP - 400HP, which is well in the territory where a standalone is required to keep things reliable.

ok i got a rtek 2.1 a rajay turbo which i believe is a 1. something ar. thinking bout going vmount because things are already tore apart. still in debate wether to tear down and freshen up at least the soft seals and street port it but this will be my first rotary engine to put back together i have tore a few n/a's down. is it possible to make my own block off plates. or is it just better to buy them. also going dual pully. do i have to change my hood with a vmount. i love v mounts because i like the idea of people not know i have a turbo till i pull up to the line and they here the bov go off
