Rear oil seal popped out
So I tried to fire my car up yesterday, got the new fuel pump installed and good to go, after multiple attempts to start with the key, and deeflooding and cleaning plugs, we tried to tow it to start. But then we saw a huge river of oil after a lap of pulling. Got the car back on the lift and saw the oil coming out of the clutch housing, also that the seal had popped out.
How is that possible? Is there any way that something can be clogged up in the engine causing pressure to build up enough to pop it out? The engine is going to be rebuilt this winter anyway but I'm just wondering if something is seriously fucked in there.
Another thing was that everything was so ******* hot, after just some minutes of towing, rotor housings and oil pan was so hot we could barely hold our hands on it, every fluid etc has been changed and bled so nothing wrong there.

Just an uneducated guess but I would say you had a little explosion and fire going on in there after the back firing that blew the seal out. Do you still have good compression?? Did that oil leaking out smell like gas ?

It's an 89 FC TII coupe.
Yes, it's engine oil, havent checked for gas stains, no.
I have owned it for a month or two.
It has been stored for around 15-16 years. The main Q is if it's possible that anything can be clogged up causing pressure to build up, also how the housings, oil pan etc could get so hot.
The radiator were ice cold, so was the oil cooler..

well,if you didn't take any precautions to lube up the internals of the Engine before you started it,then It would be a factor.
The oil/lubricants should have been changed on the whole car.It would have been like sludge.

We have had out the plugs numerous times and pumped oil in the holes and driven that round several times, we have also had something called Forte in the gas and once a bit in the rotor housings. It removes carbon buildups and helps get the engine "cleaner" on top of that, ALL fluids have been changed, including oil filter and fuel filter. Also we sensed a major improvement in compression after more we had oil in and drove round, along with the Forte, so I would believe we have taken precautions
