The 4 lines running from the metering oil pump to the oil injectors. They drip oil into the engine to lubricate the seals.

hello,

I was told the hoses below are oil meterting/ pressure hoses?

I have a 87 gxl and the those hoses are damaged. so i wanted to know 1) can i remove them? 2) do i need them or will they cause problems if i remove them?

no need to start another thread to ask that question. could have put it in the other one. if u follow those lines down, u'll see they attach to the omp. yes u need them. u'll need to premix ur oil and gas if u do away with them. not sure where u can get replacements for it. u could post a want to buy thread in the classifieds section or ask around in the 2nd gen section.

With another smaller hose and then put clamps to just hold it together?

someone posted yrs back bout some clear lines they had found in the Granger catalog that would work for a replacement with part #'s. u might want to try the dealer to see what they might be able to come up with. alto anything from the dealer wont be cheap.

And the OEM replacements aren't too horribly priced. A full set of 4 is $120 through Mazdatrix: http://www.mazdatrix.com/b62.htm. I have a new set I picked up second-hand for even less.

I just bought all the bits to rebuild my OMP lines. Mine aren't leaking yet but I need to remove the upper intake manifold and thought I should probably just rebuild then, since the consensus seems to be that if you even look at the old ones wrong they will break.

Seems like a pretty straight forward process, just a bit of a pain to reach some of the banjo bolts.

What kind of parts are you using to rebuild ? and also if you could please tell me where to get them

There is a thread in the 2nd gen archives about rebuilding the lines. It involves buying some 1/8" ID PFA tubing and crimp rings. Including shipping to Canada and the conversion rate my order came to ~$30CAD for all the bits to rebuild them. I am sure yours would be cheaper since the shipment isn't crossing the border and there is no currency conversion.

I ordered from MSC, however you would have the option of either mcmaster-carr or msc. I can't link the thread right now but there are only a couple pages of threads in the 2nd gen archives.

Since the factory replacement (and most aftermarket replacements) come to around $110-$160 depending on where you source them this option seemed very cost effective to me, and the process really doesn't look that hard. Make sure you order up intake manifold gaskets so that you can re-seal the whole thing once you finish. Around here my local dealer charged ~$5/each for them.
