Oil consumption varies with how hard you drive the car and the condition of the oil control rings. Also if you have any leaks, the oil level will drop faster. Check the dipstick and add it as necessary. I average about a quart every 3000 miles.

Instead of checking all the time I just wait until the low oil buzzer/light comes on when I take turns fast. I have to add a quart about every 3 weeks.

Not really great advice...At that point the oil pump is already sucking air.

It does vary depending on how hard you drive. Try coming up with a plan. For me I change my oil every 1,000-2,000 miles but I have a na 3 rotor and I'm sort of weird when it comes to maintaining proper performance for my RX-8. However do not wait for the oil light to come on simply because it is not a good habbit. Practice changing your oil every 2500 miles.

There is absolutely no reason to change the oil ever 1K to 2K. That is just a big waste of money, time and resources. I can't imagine changing the oil every 1K. I'd be doing it every 2 weeks. Every 2.5K is still a bit much.

To each his own, but remember this is the highly impressionable new users forum, so advice should be given that is valid for most people. Following the manufacturers recommended oil change interval is good advice.

Everyone should be popping the hood and glancing at the engine everytime the car is filled with fuel anyway just to make sure that everything is OK. Every two fillups, check the oil...

just check it every time you fill up with gas, or every week. whichever comes first.
