Oil cooler line removal
I did a quick search on the forums but found very little useful info, but I digress. I am taking off the lower oil cooler line to replace it with one that isn't cut.
Here is the problem. I cannot get the bolt holding the cooler line in place out. By that I mean the bolt that is attaching the line to the cooler. I've tried using a socket with rachet, with a wrench, and with vice grips. All after spraying a moderate amount of wd-40 on/around the bolt. Is there something I don't know about this bolt or do I just need to put more elbow grease into it? The car is an 1986 GXL. Thanks!

Haha. That's kind of what I was thinking. It appears someone had already tried getting it off before so the bolt's edges are hard to get a grip on. It is concerning me a little bit because it is so firmly attached to the oil cooler that whenever I use something on the bolt the whole cooler moves with it. I guess its just because the bolt has been attached for nearly 27 years.

Ya,it's a bit of a P***k to get off,but it does come off!
I used a 1/2 inch ratchet and 15/16th and an extension down into the Front to get at the top of the bolt.If you get a small piece of pipe over the ratchet handle that speeds things up.(leverage).
Get a buddy to secure the Oil cooler if you can,just add some opposite pressure.
OR,you can attack it from the engine side.then you can get the lines off once the cooler is out and off the car.
The only thing being that you need to get the Front cover line off,and that may involve shaving a wrench as it is a thin spot to get at.
The back is cake from under the car.

Yea Mine was the same the only way I got mine off without to much twisting was to heat the nut up with a torch even a hand held propane torch will help you . don't need to get it red or anything just heat it up till it smokes a tad. If the head is screwed you might need to hacksaw the head off remove line and use pipe wrench to remove , you will need to get new bolt but sounds like it's already pregnant .

Update: Finally had some time in the decent weather to get it off. Turns out it was too stripped to use a ratchet or breaker bar. I tried to use propane torch but I wasn't very careful and burned a little bit of stuff around the bolt (nothing serious, mostly just old dried oil and road grime). I digress, my final solution (and one that I suggest you, dear reader need this information) is that I detached the actual oil cooler from the car's frame so I could use a impact on it to take the bolt off. Also you were right, misterstyx, the back bolt was crazy easy to get off. Just needed a little muscle and patience.
