New FD owner...some things dont seem right...

So i recently purchased a 1992 imported fd rx7. But some things just dont seem right. Starters....i cant get the passenger door to shut all the way. it will shut but its always about a 1/4in open. Enough to leave the interior lights still on. Whats the best thing to do for that? also the windsheid wipers are very sluggish, barely work, do i need a new motor? Another thing, as im driving, varying RPM's i can feel the shifter "float", if that makes sense? I can see the stick move up and down at times, not a whole lot but enough to notice, is that normal? and one last thing....hopefully the last thng, as i approach higher RPM (6-8k) the oil pressure drops. That definietly does not seem normal to me. Any help would be appreciated!

P.S. I used "International Vehicle Importers" as the import company. None of mentioned issues were known or expressed to me by the company. I called them and he said he would have a tech call me back.....2 days ago....and i havnt been able to get ahold of them.

Seems these cars are notorious for the doors and fitment. Mine do the same thing.
I've read about possible doing some latch adjustment, but I haven't gone that far yet.
Same thing with the wiper motors. It's possible it's the age, and could stand to have a nice new motor to speed it up.
I've never noticed the shifter "floating" or anything like that. Ensure it's bolted down under the center console. Can you physically lift it up and down by hand?
I would use the factory oil pressure gauge as "reference only" and in this case it might be worth looking closer into. Maybe get another aftermarket gauge and confirm it's dropping and it's not just the sensor for the stock gauge.

Besides the obvious... check your oil level too.

poor door closing is common- fix and adjust-
wiper arms could need a lube, open up the cowell and look to find the issue etc poor ground etc?
pay no attention the oil gauge it sucks and is why it was replaced with a boost gauge on the gen 2, you can try to clean the sensor under the oil filter it is said they can corrode or get oily and not read well. go aftermarket

BC Congratulations on your new 1992!

Congratulations on your new 1992!

There is a thread on here which lists about 50 things you might want to do to assure your new car is in top running order.

Best to find it and get started as soon as possible.

BTW: I do not think any of your issues are on that list.

Plenty of experience with RHD up here in Western Canada.

the shifter itself doesnt seem to move, it seems like its the whole transmission moving. like when engines rev they move, well i can feel the engine moving through the transmission into the shifter. ill have to inspect the motor area for the wipers, its about 4 degrees here right now so i havnt done a ton of investigating. and where do you adjust the doors at? the latch on the body has no adjustment to it. and sorry if they are obvious question, its my first FD ive ever owned....well first car ive ever owned, ive always had trucks lol and even tho its a 92' it is a FD. Thats when they started producing them in Japan, 93 for the US

I had a loose screw that holds the inner door card on. It stuck out a half inch and would not let the door close. The door latch should be adjustable a bit. You might have loose engine mounts. Or the power plant frame may also be loose. This might cause some movement in your drivectrain.

the shifter isn't mounted to the floor with linkages going to the trans, it's actually mounted to the trans. so yes it will move with the trans but not a whole lot as u acell/decell, or just in neutral revving the engine. make sure engine and trans mounts aren't broken.

*For the door issue I recommend taking it to your local trusted collision shop and see if they can adjust it. Hopefully it's not due to a bad collision repair.
*For the INDICATED oil pressure dropping...First change the oil, especially if it has some fuel smell to it. Fuel dilution, over time, is common on the cars and can affect viscosity, which affects oil pressure. The gauge sender can also be bad. It's located on the left side of the engine just under the oil filter pedestal. Last I checked they're a little over $100 to replace but have some history of malfunction. I would try that before going into panic mode. In my experience oil pump issues are very rare. I would NOT go to an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.
*For the slow wiper issue, first its pretty cold where you are and things tend to move slower. I might try removing the arms and simply run the wiper motor and mechanism for several minutes and see if there's improvement.
*For the moving shifter...you probably have a bad left side engine mount. This was a common failure in the early 92-93 cars due to it's design and was corrected in subsequent models. The later design is a direct replacement.

I recommend you FIRST go to the 3rd Gen. FAQ sticky at the top of this page and spend a few evenings reading up on your new purchase. You'll also find a link to a free downloadable copy of the Factory Service Manual. It will be for a LHD North American model. They're different in some significant ways but a lot will be the same...such as finding things like a Oil Pressure Gauge sender.
Learning how to use the SEARCH function in the 3rd Gen. Technical Section will also be critical, like looking up threads on slow wiper issues, indicated oil pressure and even motor mounts. There are few problems that are unique on these cars and there's usually helpful information to be found in a search .

When I bought my FD the trans was broken where it was bolted to the cross frame, could feel it through the stick.
