Last night I'm in town and this brand new Couger pulls up. I asked the guy if he had a 4 or 6. He said 6 manual. He's jumping off the line so I'm guessing he's down. We take off and I nailed 2nd better than ever. We are coming to another light and I see a cop sitting in a parking lot on the right side so I let off and started slowing down. The light was green so we go through it and to the next light. Well I guess the cops weren't even in the car because it took them about 45 seconds or so to pull out. Then they come up and pull both of us over and one of my buddies. He takes all of our info then the cop comes up to me and gives me back my info and asks me what racetrack I'm at? I didn't know what to say so I just laughed a little. I asked him if I was in trouble and he said I would get citations in the mail. I said for what? He said he didn't know. But I would get something in the mail. He didn't give me any thing on paper or even give me his name. Does this sound right to you. I talked to my buddy and he told him the same thing.
Before the cop left I asked him if I was winning and he said yeah I was beating him pretty bad.
Anybody ever had this experience with a cop?

 

either he was trying to scare you or not. You'll either get soemthing in the mail or not. save up 300 and in 3 months if you have no citations spend it on the car. Sounds messed up to me, but what can you do.

 

Hmm...well, that certainly doesn't pass the common sense test (not that this fact means anything). However, as they can't just take you and throw you in jail w/o telling you what you're charged with (theoretically anyway), I would think that he should have at least told you what the ticket would be for ... reckless op, speeding, unnecessary display of speed (or whatever they call that these days) ... something. The fact that he didn't even know what ticket he would write up for you makes it sound like he was really just trying to scare you.

Don't they simply write tickets on the scene anywhere anymore? sheesh lol. One of these days, they'll take your finger prints at birth, and that's how they'll ticket us (among other things). Oy....

legaly, i think that they have to cite you on the spot.
so if by some chance you do get one in the mail, you should be able to fight it with sucsess.

although, the newest thing in california is that supositly they are going to start issuing tickets via mail by recording you through the stop lights. the cameras that detect if someone is there will also start decting your speed. it is all about not having a front license plate on, so they cannot identify you......

 

They started enforcing the front license plate thing pretty hard this summer. I should take a picture of the signs they have posted in Pasadena, and post it here. Funny sh*t. "Smile, your on traffic cam!"

They say it is because they want to be able to ID you on those traffic cameras. Supposedly they are timed so that they only take pictures of those that blatantly run the RED (1 or 2 sec delay after a full RED), not those that are trying to make the yellow light.

[I should mention that money talks, and every city that's installed these traffic cameras have turned instant revenues, "PROFITS" within a few months. They also send you a picture of your face.]

Then we also have the face recognition programs that they tried out this year at the SuperBowl. Apparently, they did ID a few of America's most wanted, but didn't have anyone around to round 'em up. One city is using it in a nightlife area of town, so if you are a wanted man, they may walk up to you and politely ask for your ID (cautious hand resting on gun, safetly off).

Just wait until it is mandatory for all cars to carry re-callable memory, like an airplane black box. Yes, your car will be able to testify againtst you!!! And roadside wireless transmitter/receivers that'll automatically communicate to the Highway Patrol that you are speeding. No more car jackings! They just enter a code and your car powers down and the brakes are applied.

I stood in the Teletrac control room one afternoon and watched as the controllers tracked their clients' vehicles via Cell Phone towers (dopler telemetry). They are accurate to 6 feet or so, and can tell you what street you are traveling, how fast and superimpose all that on an electronic map of the city. It was even good for 3 miles out into the Pacific ocean!!! Just like a video game. That was a over 10 years ago when no one was talking about GPS in cars.

Some installed the Teletrac device to use like a Lojack in case the car was stolen. Some husbands installed them in their wives' cars and visa-versa. Company's to track delivery trucks One client called in to ask where his car was (son was driving dad's car). Today we'd hook that sucker on the Internet and simply click to see where we are.
